Job summary

EyePoint seeks a Sr./Executive Director of Program Design and Access Strategy to lead design and evolution of patient support programs with a patient-centric focus. You will influence across functions to deliver scalable, compliant programs and leverage digital solutions to improve access for retinal diseases.

The role sits on the Market Access leadership team, reporting to the VP and collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and Commercial Strategy to optimize data utilization and governance.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of pharma/biotech experience with a focus on patient and/or market access.
  • Deep understanding of the patient access landscape and the buy-and-bill journey.
  • Experience building patient support programs: Hub services, copay programs, PAP, field access teams.
  • Experience optimizing internal patient services programs and outsourced vendor programs.
  • Diverse background in patient access with leadership across functions.
  • Specialty pharmacy and trade experience a plus; ophthalmology market experience a plus.
  • Strong grasp of compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent presentation and executive communication skills.

Job description

The Commercial team at EyePoint focuses on bringing innovative therapies to patients by ensuring healthcare providers, partners, and communities have access to treatment, reimbursement, and are able to use the product appropriately. This team uses data-driven insights, market access strategies, and a patient-centric approach to improve awareness, access, and adoption of EyePoint’s therapies to help improve vision outcomes for people with serious retinal diseases.

Reporting to the Vice President of Patient and Reimbursement Services, the Sr./Executive Director of Program Design and Access Strategy leads the design and evolution of patient support programs with a focus on the patient and practice experience. This role is at the forefront of the company effort to deliver best-in-class solutions that support patient access.

This role will act as a core member of the Market Access leadership team and play a critical role in shaping access strategy planning for the current business and future portfolio. The Director will lead across multiple functions and influence leaders across the organization to deliver program design strategy that is patient-centric in nature, supports excellent user experiences, accounts for scalability to match growth in the marketplace, and leverages smart digital solutions to best meet the needs of patients and practices. The role will need to collaborate closely across Patient Access Field teams, Hub Services, Marketing, Sales Leadership, Payer Teams, Trade, Supply Chain, Legal, and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for overall design of patient support programs.
  • Seen as a leader within the organization with an impact beyond the specific scope of the role.
  • At the center of bringing together a cross-functional access core team to ensure excellent collaboration and communication in order to achieve organizational access goals.
  • Focus on ensuring patient access and designing a program that delivers excellent patient and practice experience.
  • Improve program innovation, customer-facing technology, and user experience with people, processes, and platforms.
  • Lead through others and assist the VP of Patient and Reimbursement Services with charting the path forward for the organization.
  • Maintain high levels of engagement with leadership and functions outside of Patient and Market Access.
  • Navigate the corporate structure, coach and assist team members with planning, and pull through on key initiatives.
  • Accountable for partnering with marketing to manage patient services marketing materials, forms, and administrative documents.
  • Serve as strategic partner to Legal and Compliance and ensure programs operate compliantly while managing key SOPs for the organization.
  • Work closely with Commercial Strategy to optimize data utilization and analytics that turn insights into action and improve patient access.
  • Play an integral role in optimization of data flow and governance.
  • Establish relationships with functional heads across multiple areas of the business and act as proxy for the VP of Patient and Reimbursement Services when appropriate.
  • Partner closely with field access leadership and hub operations leadership to ensure teams have what they need to deliver on organizational goals.
Education & Experience Required
  • 12+ years of pharma/biotech experience with a focus on patient and/or market access.
  • Deep understanding of the patient access landscape and grasp of the patient access journey in the buy and bill landscape.
  • Experience building multiple aspects of patient support programs: Hub services, commercial copay programs, PAP, field access teams, etc.
  • Experience optimizing both internal patient services programs and outsourced vendor programs in the space.
  • Diverse background in patient access, with successful personal performance or leadership across different patient access functions.
  • Specialty pharmacy and trade experience a plus.
  • Recent ophthalmology market experience, ideally in the retina space.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with accountability for multiple support programs.
  • Launch experience and/or experience in ophthalmology is a plus.
  • Firm grasp of the compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to inspire and influence while leading without authority.
  • Comfortably create presentations and deliver compelling messages to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, anticipate changes in the marketplace, and be the voice of the patient and customer.
  • Success working in a cross-functional collaborative environment and understanding the needs culture within smaller biotech.
  • College degree is required; MBA or master's level degree is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills and follow-through, as well as a proven ability to delegate and lead through others for key deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in smaller, fast-paced entrepreneurial organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Adept at forming and maintaining a collaborative work environment in and among cross-functional teams.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

This position is remote based with ability to travel, including flight travel, up to 25% of the time to attend external vendor meetings, congresses, customer events, and regular internal company meetings.
