Job description

Who We Are

BioMarin is a global biotechnology company that relentlessly pursues bold science to translate genetic discoveries into new medicines that advance the future of human health. Since our founding in 1997, we have applied our scientific expertise in understanding the underlying causes of genetic conditions to create transformative medicines, using a number of treatment modalities. Using our unparalleled expertise in genetics and molecular biology, we develop medicines for patients with significant unmet medical need. We enlist the best of the best – people with the right technical expertise and a relentless drive to solve real problems – and create an environment that empowers our teams to pursue bold, innovative science. With this distinctive approach to drug discovery, we’ve produced a diverse pipeline of commercial, clinical and preclinical candidates that have well-understood biology and provide an opportunity to be first-to-market or offer a substantial benefit over existing therapeutic options.

Role Summary

The Senior Executive Coordinator will serve as a strategic partner to BioMarin’s new Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), a visionary technology leader driving enterprise-wide transformation through AI, data strategy, and innovation. This role requires an exceptional professional who can operate at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and cross-functional collaboration—enabling the CDIO to maximize impact across BioMarin’s digital transformation journey. More than traditional administrative support, this role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment where priorities shift rapidly, initiatives span the globe, and the stakes are high. You’ll be the trusted right hand to an executive reshaping how BioMarin leverages technology and data to accelerate breakthrough therapies to patients. This is an opportunity for a highly adaptable, tech-savvy professional who brings intellectual curiosity, exceptional judgment, and the ability to anticipate needs in a complex, matrixed organization. You’ll manage competing priorities across digital infrastructure, AI initiatives, enterprise transformation programs, and global IT operations—all while serving as a connector, communicator, and culture-builder for the broader digital organization.

Why This Role Matters

This is a unique opportunity to directly support a transformational technology leader who is reshaping BioMarin’s future through innovation, AI, and digital excellence. You’ll operate at the center of enterprise transformation initiatives that directly impact our ability to bring life-changing therapies to patients faster and more effectively. For the right person—someone who is curious, adaptable, tech-forward, and energized by the pace of innovation—this role offers tremendous growth potential and the satisfaction of supporting work that truly matters.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Executive Coordinator, you will:

Strategic Partnership & Executive Enablement
  • Serve as the CDIO’s administrative partner, anticipating needs so leadership can focus on high-impact transformation priorities across technology, AI, and data strategy.
  • Act as a trusted extension of the CDIO in managing relationships with C-suite peers, Board members, external technology partners, and key stakeholders across a global, matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgment in prioritizing competing demands and redirecting requests appropriately while maintaining executive alignment.
Complex Coordination in a Dynamic Environment
  • Orchestrate intricate calendar management across multiple time zones, balancing strategic planning sessions, transformation program reviews, global team meetings, vendor partnerships, Board preparation, and external speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel with meticulous attention to detail, navigating the complexity of a global digital organization.
  • Manage end-to-end logistics for high-stakes meetings including transformation leadership offsites, AI strategy sessions, technology vendor presentations, and cross-functional innovation workshops.
  • Prepare, review and submit expense reports in alignment with T&E policy.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as a critical communications hub for the digital and information organization, facilitating information flow between the CDIO, leadership team members, global IT teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • Draft, review, and refine executive communications, presentations, and strategic documents with clarity and professional polish.
  • Represent the CDIO’s office with exceptional executive presence, diplomacy, and discretion when interfacing with senior leaders and external partners.
Organizational Leadership & Culture Building
