Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to develop accurate, competitive estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will work closely with operations and project management from bid through project handoff, evaluating scope, constructability, and cost beyond pure takeoffs.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering or construction management background, hands-on experience with self-performed work, and proficiency in estimating

Qualifications

• Experience estimating water and wastewater projects.
• Experience with self-performed concrete and heavy civil construction.
• Ability to read plans, specifications and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis and scope review skills.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS, Bluebeam, OST).

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, piping and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate phasing, staging, logistics, constructability and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify risks, opportunities, VE ideas and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations to set projects up for successful execution.

We are looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to join our team. You’ll play a key role in pursuing and planning water and wastewater infrastructure projects, developing accurate, competitive estimates and partnering closely with operations and project management from bid through project handoff.

We’re looking for someone who understands water/wastewater construction and self-performed work and can evaluate scope, constructability, risk, and cost—not just perform takeoffs.

What You’ll Do

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Experience estimating water and/or wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
• Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
