Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking a Senior Construction Environmental Specialist to support large-scale civil construction projects across the United States.

This field-based role emphasizes environmental compliance, SWPPP, hazardous waste, remediation, and regulatory interaction with travel to major project sites. In this position, you will review environmental documentation, advise on environmental matters, and collaborate with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Geology, or related field.
  • Eight+ years of related experience.
  • Significant experience with SWPPP.
  • Experience with SPCC, erosion control, aquatic resources, and other environmental risks.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental laws and policies.
  • Current driver’s license; willingness to travel; HQ-based with remote consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop site specific environmental plans and activities.
  • Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction meetings.
  • Implement policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and lead environmental training programs.
  • Lead BMPs for environmental management.
  • Monitor mitigation measures and conduct site inspections.
  • Collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of environmental issues in construction.
  • Communicate with third parties including consultants and regulatory representatives.
  • Assist in development of company-wide Environmental Management support programs.

Job description

Senior Construction Environmental Specialist opportunity supporting large-scale civil construction projects across the United States. This is a high-impact, field-based role for someone with strong experience in environmental compliance, SWPPP, hazardous waste, remediation, and regulatory interaction who enjoys being hands-on in the field and traveling to major project sites. The organization offers long-term career growth, a strong environmental and safety culture, rotational schedules with housing/travel support, and the opportunity to work on complex projects throughout the Southwest, South, and Midwest.

In this role, you will review environmental documentation and advise on environmental matters. Strong communication skills are essential as you will interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. Your ability to work well in a team and collaborate is vital to your success. This position is based out of their headquarters and requires travel to our sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develop site specific environmental plans and activities
  • Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Develop and lead environmental training programs
  • Lead best management practices for environmental management
  • Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures and conduct work site environmental inspections
  • Collaborate with customers on regulatory reporting and documentation requirements
  • Maintain operational knowledge of environmental issues in construction, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures
  • Communicate with various third parties including the customer’s environmental personnel, environmental consultants, and regulatory representatives
  • Assist in the development company-wide Environmental Management support programs
Salary

$90,000 - $130,000

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Geology, or related field
  • Significant experience with storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP)
  • Experience with endangered species, erosion prevention and sediment control, aquatic resources, spill prevention controls and countermeasures (SPCC), and other environmental risks
  • Deep understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Strong organizational and self-direction skills with the ability to collaborate in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to communicate with consultants and governmental agencies
  • Ability to use PC, tablets and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word)
  • Proficient with reviewing designs
  • Minimum of eight years related experience
  • Current driver’s license
  • Based out of company headquarters (remotely located candidates will be considered)
