Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to lead the development and implementation of EHS training programs across our manufacturing operations. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and workforce capability through strategic curricula and LMS management.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in EHS/training, strong instructional design, and PM skills. Travel to SpaceX locations is required; SpaceX offers comprehensive benefits and stock options.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 5+ years in EHS, manufacturing, or training roles.

SR. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEER, EHS TRAINING PROGRAMS

The Sr EHS Engineer provides business operations support to SpaceX's operations in focusing on the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) training programs that enhance operational safety, regulatory compliance, and workforce capability in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive EHS training curricula, materials, and programs aligned with operational needs, regulatory requirements, and risk reduction priorities.
  • Conduct training needs assessments, gap analyses, and evaluations of existing programs to identify opportunities for improvement and new content development.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to instructor partners for effective training delivery. educational materials, job aids, and awareness resources for employees at all levels.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and EHS teams across the organization to solicit feedback, ensure training relevance, and integrate lessons learned from incidents, audits, and performance data.
  • Manage learning management system (LMS) content, tracking, reporting, and compliance documentation for EHS training completion and effectiveness.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and/or contractors to enhance training delivery methods, tools, and platforms; manage related projects to completion using a disciplined project management framework.
  • Analyze training-related data (completion rates, assessments, incident correlations) to measure program effectiveness, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement; develop dashboards and visualizations as needed.
  • Architect strategic training roadmaps and action plans that support organizational priorities around risk reduction, operational excellence, and EHS maturity.
  • Identify training and competency challenges, lead problem formulation, determine root causes, and implement creative, effective solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with different levels of the organization, including training delivery, content reviews with engineers/SMEs, and presentations to leadership.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS, manufacturing, operations, program/project management, training, or engineering role.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs, preferably in a manufacturing or high-hazard industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EHS regulations; familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Technical Program Management (TPM) expertise strongly preferred; Project Management Professional (PMP) welcomed.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to multi-task, manage shifting priorities, and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Innovative thinking to drive continuous improvement in training effectiveness and engagement.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willing to travel to other SpaceX locations when requested.
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: Level 3: $130,000.00 - $195,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
