Job Summary

The Senior Enterprise System Programmer leads the technicalfunctions of enterprise application development.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the development, utilization, and maintenanceof Enterprise web and mobile applications, including applicationsecurity, in accordance with software requirements and theobjectives of the UTSA community.
  2. Develops and helps to architect large-scale web-basedapplications using 3-Tier software architecture and agilemethodology.
  3. Supports projects through the entire lifecycle (SDLC) includingdesign, development, testing, and production release.
  4. Works with the enterprise Data Architect and Enterprise userinterface Designer when designing and developing layouts for web,Windows, and mobile applications.
  5. Assists in architecting and developing software solutionsutilized university-wide to support areas such as, but not limitedto, student, faculty, and staff services, ERP systems, andapplications to support University business functions.
  6. Develops prototypes using the functional specification for asoftware project.
  7. Conducts code reviews, gives feedback on how to improve thesolution, and documents/reports findings. Responsible for utilizingsource control management tools.
  8. Responsible for working with the Web Solution Architect inevaluating new standards, technologies, and trends in design,development, and delivery.
  9. Supports and maintains implementation of complex off-the-shelfcomponents or applications requiring development.
  10. Assists in consulting with key customers and external entitiesto define business requirements, create and document technicalstrategies to support the development of solutions in support ofthe University's business function, and provide technical supportfor driving the solution to implementation.
  11. Provides feedback on testing, usability, requirements, UMLdiagrams, and software development processes, policies, procedures,and coding standards.
  12. Collaborates with database administrators and the Databasearchitect on the design, development, testing, and implementationof custom applications.
  13. Identifies system deficiencies and works on developing andimplementing solutions.
  14. Works to meet all development deadlines and schedules andconsistently delivers high-quality products; prioritizes andexecutes tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  15. Initiates, develops, and maintains effective workingrelationships with team members; follows through with commitmentsand fosters mutual trust with fellow employees; cooperates with avariety of people to achieve desired results.
  16. Troubleshoots and corrects performance problems related to web,desktop, and mobile applications; provides technical assistance andtraining by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, orquestions.
  17. Assists with special projects, new technologies, anddeadlines.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

  • Familiarization with Ellucian SaaS products (Dataconnect,Ellucian Workflow, Experience, etc) and REST APIs.

  • Design, develop and implement business processautomations.

  • Proficiency with systems design, programming, andscripting.
  • Ability to recognize when to elevate a procedural issue.
  • Knowledgeable in developing documentation, providing customersupport, and training users.
  • Ability to proactively learn, adapt to, and use newhardware/software technologies.
  • Ability to organize, manage time effectively, deliver tasks ontime, manage rapidly changing priorities, and manage multipleefforts.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with theability to exercise mature judgment.
  • Well-developed customer service skills and proven ability todevelop and sustain productive customer relationships.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new and emerging technologysolutions by participating in technical training and technologybriefings/webinars, including self-paced and other staffdevelopment activities.
  • Ability to collaborate in a broad team environment.

  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
  • Office and Data Processing Environment. Occasionalexposure to extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. Thenoise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Occasional evening and weekend work. Occasional travelto and from meetings, training sessions, or multipleuniversity-owned campuses and leased spaces. Required to beon stand-by call status, carrying a pager, cell phone, or two-wayradio as assigned and respond to after-hours emergency calls.Required to be on stand-by call status for evenings, afterhours, odd hours, shift work, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.Flexibility in scheduling may be required.
