Position Summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer who thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge bringing forward a full stack mindset. Work duties can range from providing input to user experience design to implementing front-end interfaces working through back-end system integrations and all points in between.

Position Description

Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide friction-less experiences to our customers and maintaining the highest standards of protection and availability. Key responsibilities include the development and maintenance of web applications and their supporting architecture, including customer-facing experiences and internal web tools for content management.

Position Responsibilities

• Evolve web applications and supporting systems focusing on speed to market, security, and 24x7 availability.
• Scope, design, and build scalable and resilient software solutions amongst diverse engineering groups.
• Utilize object-oriented languages, JavaScript, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure tools and services.
• Perform engineering design evaluations and code reviews to elevate engineering quality.
• Manage daily activities of engineering teams to ensure project delivery.
• Simplify, automate, and standardize designs, operations, and deployment plans to enhance performance and scalability.
• Ensure production operations support, availability, stability, and performance of applications.
• Collaborate across organizations to align technology and roadmaps.
• Manage projects and processes for team efficiency.
• Set, manage, and report KPIs for data-driven decision making.
• Mentor peers and junior engineers to develop skills and careers.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of headless automated testing architectures, open-source solutions, JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL, NGINX.
• Experience delivering web products at scale.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, platforms, and technologies.
• Knowledge of monitoring concepts and tooling.
• Ability to prioritize and drive results based on business value.
• Understanding of SDLC.
• Experience designing scalable, high-availability cloud-native applications.
• Experience with CI/CD, Release Management, and Configuration Management tools.
• Knowledge of data modeling and AI concepts is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments.

Experience

• 4+ years of software development or solutions engineering experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Golang, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Recent hands-on experience with cloud solutions.
• 3+ years in architecture and design.
• 3+ years with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services.
• 2+ years with open-source frameworks.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
