Nationwide is seeking a Sr Engineer, Software Engineer to join its Technology team. The role focuses on building and running secure software for a Fortune 100 company, leveraging Genesys Cloud, DevSecOps practices, and modern monitoring tools in a hybrid environment with preferred locations in Columbus, OH or Des Moines, IA.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript, and a solid foundation in SDLC.

• Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, MIS, or related degrees preferred.
• Experience: Two or more years of software engineering, analysis, or related technology experience.

This role supports the Lords of the Ring team within the CSS BSA Contact Center organization. The team leverages Genesys Cloud, a leading cloud-based customer experience platform, to deliver innovative contact center solutions.

Candidates should possess hands‑on experience with Genesys Cloud and demonstrate familiarity with modern DevOps and monitoring tools, including Harness, GitHub, Splunk, and Cyara.

Primary responsibilities include both build and run activities, encompassing the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and operational support of contact center solutions. The role requires collaboration across technical and business teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and high‑performing customer service platforms.

Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills And Experiences

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degrees are preferred. Technology experience or non‑traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Two or more years of software engineering, analysis, or related technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle moderately complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
