We currently have an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to join our IL MEP Team based out of our Chicago or Champaign offices. The MEP Team provides architectural engineering services for public sector clients with planning and design of electrical systems for a variety of buildings and municipal facilities including public safety, higher education, industrial and water & wastewater treatment plants. This role manages projects, provides technical guidance and assists with business development for the team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and project management for MEP engineering projects, ensuring technical quality and timely delivery.
  • Assign project tasks, mentor staff, and oversee project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams (Mechanical, Civil, Structural) on integrated projects.
  • Monitor project progress, ensure QC/QA processes are followed.
  • Support staff development through mentorship and task assignments.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as billing, performance monitoring, and workload planning.
  • Develop client relationships and participate in project pursuits.
  • Engage with technical and trade associations.

Position Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical or Architectural Engineering and Illinois PE license.
  • 10+ years of consulting engineering experience focused on facility design, power, low voltage, and lighting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Project management experience with scope, schedule, budget, and financial accountability.
  • Proficiency with Revit, SKM PowerTools, Lighting Design software (e.g., AGI-32), MS Office; experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills for client presentations and report writing.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Compensation

Starting salary range: $98,342 - $136,448, plus annual bonus, benefits, professional development reimbursement, 401k & ESOP plans, and ownership opportunities. Learn more at www.clarkdietz.com.
