Job summary

ClinLab Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to lead CAD development for complex projects. You will create and review 2D/3D drawings, mentor junior designers, and ensure adherence to CAD standards and design for manufacturability.

The role includes client-facing design support, revision control, and training material development to close technical gaps. Excellent written and spoken English, with advanced Revit and AutoCAD Electrical skills, and knowledge of Lean

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in science, engineering, technology, or math.
  • 5-7 years of design software experience in a commercial/manufacturing-adjacent environment.
  • Mentoring or technical leadership of junior designers/engineers.
  • Advanced: Revit; AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Excellent ability to read and use technical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Create and review 2D/3D drawings; act as final technical reviewer for junior staff.
  • Establish and enforce revision practices for production drawings.
  • Update plan sets and CAD models with redlines and as-built records.
  • Mentor engineers on CAD standards, cleanroom envelope design, and manufacturability.
  • Provide client-facing design assistance and maintain strong client relationships.

Job description

  • Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, to develop advanced designs/layouts, elevations, and realistic renderings per company drafting standards, including for the most complex or non-standard project scopes.
  • Creates and reviews drawings in both 2 and 3-dimensional form, serving as a final technical reviewer of less experienced engineers' work prior to release.
  • Make drafts and assist in the final sketch of proposed drawings, checking dimension of parts, the relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Establishes and upholds revision practices for production drawings, and coaches less experienced engineers on proper revision discipline.
  • Update plan sets and models based on Manufacturing redlines of as-built conditions. Records updates for EOR review, if needed, to seal Third Party inspection sets or final as-built drawings.
  • Ensure all product datasheets for the range are up to date and technically accurate.
  • Serve as the primary technical mentor for less experienced GCS engineers — reviewing work, answering technical questions, and building their proficiency in CAD standards, cleanroom envelope design, and design for manufacturability.
  • Identify recurring technical gaps across the design team and develop training materials or process improvements to close them.
Client-facing Design Assistance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between our company and its clients, embodying the organization's values and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships between customers and the company, fostering trust and satisfaction — including in situations requiring technical judgment calls or de-escalation.
  • Uphold and promote the brand image of the company, aligning actions with company values and standards.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to bids and designs based on same.
  • Develop and refine pre-sale and design office procedures to enhance customer satisfaction, and train other engineers in these procedures.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or training: Science, Engineering, Technology, or Math
  • Minimum of 5-7 years: Related experience using design software in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing-adjacent environment
  • Required: Demonstrated experience mentoring, training, or providing technical leadership to junior designers/engineers (formal people-management experience not required)
  • Expert / Advanced: Skills and knowledge in using Revit
  • Advanced: Skills and knowledge in using computer-aided design systems (Auto-CAD Electrical)
  • Advanced: Knowledge in design for manufacturability
  • Intermediate: Knowledge of Lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Expert: Knowledge and ability to read and use technical drawings
  • Expert: Skill in documentation and attention to detail
  • Advanced: Skill in basic computer functions such as word processors, spreadsheets, and internet usage

Technical Skills
  • Deep, expert-level understanding of the company's products or similar products within the industry, sufficient to train and serve as a technical reference for others.
  • Ability to present clearly and concisely
  • Strong, well-established background in cleanroom envelope build standards and regulations
  • Ability to put together technical submittal packs to construction industry standards.
  • Ability to utilize CRM systems (Hubspot), to capture enquiries received around products
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, with operational-level skills in PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in French communication is advantageous.

  • Strong understanding of construction regulations within cleanroom design and build.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of construction drawings, call-offs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), enabling effective execution.
  • Demonstrates agility and responsiveness in adapting to changing circumstances and requirements.
  • Able to manage multiple substantive projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, consider opinions, and effectively convey information to various stakeholders — including in a mentoring or coaching capacity.
  • Advanced understanding of cleanroom envelope costings, sufficient to review and validate other engineers' estimates.
