Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Partner Solutions Architect (PSA) with domain expertise in the Energy & Utilities industry. As an Energy & Utilities PSA, you will have the opportunity to deliver on our strategy of accelerating adoption of AWS cloud computing services through our consulting and technology partners and their power, utilities, and energy customers. AWS partners include the largest systems integrators, energy ISVs, grid technology providers, and innovative technology companies who are using AWS as their cloud platform of choice. This role will focus on working with multiple strategic consulting and technology partners to define and build technical solutions that drive top-of-funnel pipeline creation and deal progression. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical skill in energy grid operations, SCADA/EMS/DMS architectures, OT network security, utility data platforms (OSIsoft PI, historian systems, AMI head-ends), power systems modeling, renewable energy integration, and cloud computing, as well as customer-facing and technical sales skills at all levels of a sales organization. The ideal candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in the energy and utilities industry. The ideal candidate is an influencer by nature and must be seen as someone partners and customers are eager to engage with and have a strong hands-on approach. They will be the subject matter expert for the Energy & Utilities industry to become a trusted advisor to sales teams and customers, driving customer outcomes through partners. They will be responsible for accelerating customers' cloud adoption in the energy and utilities sector, including grid modernization, decarbonization initiatives, distributed energy resource management (DERMS), advanced distribution management systems (ADMS), asset performance management, and innovative uses of Agentic AI in grid optimization, load forecasting, predictive maintenance, and energy trading operations. AWS partners develop and deploy solutions for customers in the Energy & Utilities industry including investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipals, independent power producers, renewable energy developers, and energy retailers. AWS customers are developing some of the most exciting and innovative energy technologies, and partners are using cloud technologies from AWS such as IoT Core and Greengrass for edge telemetry, scalable data lakes for meter and sensor data, AI/ML for demand forecasting and anomaly detection, edge computing for substation intelligence, and time-series analytics to dramatically accelerate grid modernization, reduce outage durations, and improve operational efficiency.

With global energy demand projected to rise 47% over the next 25 years, the power and utilities sector is simultaneously navigating grid modernization, decarbonization mandates, electrification of transport, and a rise in power demand not experienced in decades. This convergence creates an unprecedented opportunity for AWS to lead at the intersection of cloud technology and energy infrastructure—and for this role to drive partner-led outcomes across the sector.

Key job responsibilities
  • Drive top-of-funnel pipeline creation with energy and utilities partners through technical discovery, solution validation, and joint customer engagement

  • Evangelize partner solutions for grid modernization, DERMS, ADMS, OMS, ETRM, asset performance management, and meter data management—both internally across AWS and externally with utility customers
  • Position AWS as the preferred cloud platform for E&U solutions, demonstrating advantages in IoT (Core, Greengrass, SiteWise), edge computing, scalable data lakes, AI/ML for load forecasting, and time-series workloads
  • Develop executive relationships within partner organizations alongside Partner Development Specialists, becoming their trusted technical advisor
  • Deliver architectural guidance for E&U pre-sales engagements including reference architectures for OT/IT convergence, SCADA historian migration, DER aggregation, predictive asset maintenance, and substation edge automation
  • Lead POCs and POVs with partners and customers to validate solutions and accelerate deal progression for energy and utilities workloads
  • Document and share E&U-specific best practices, patterns, and anti-patterns with the broader Solutions Architect community
  • Feed customer and partner insights to AWS product and engineering teams to influence service roadmap for the energy and utilities sector

  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
  • 5+ years of solving problems with technology in the Energy & Utilities industries experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with technology and consulting partners through solution alignment, account management, product management, program management and business development engagements
  • Deep industry knowledge of energy and utilities technology providers, grid operators, and their technology and consulting partner landscape
  • Experience working in a technical pre-sales environment, progressing sales opportunities and maintaining sales pipeline hygiene
