Location: While the majority of our Zigbee/Thread Engineering roles are based in Austin, TX, by applying to this position your application will be considered for the following locations in the United States: Irvine, CA, Austin, TX or Sunnyvale, CA.
As a Software Development Engineer - Zigbee/Thread, you will engage with experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. Your ownership can span across application, device framework, connectivity stack, drivers, and low-level wireless controller coexistence and scheduler algorithms. You will work and own connectivity solutions across all Amazon digital devices spanning from Kindle, Fire TV, Echo, IoT Smart Home solutions, and more, as well as applications on mobile devices.
You will work closely with the product management, hardware, operations, application, platform, cloud, and quality assurance teams. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The Zigbee/Thread connectivity team is responsible for the connectivity-related user experience and use cases. This includes delivery and maintenance of an evolving feature-rich, high-performance, low-power, stable platform. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
The ZigBee/Thread team is committed to providing services and tools to create and manage a reliable ZigBee/Thread network. ZigBee and Thread are networking protocols that use the 802.15.4 network standard. They provide low-power Mesh capability to commission accessories into a network. These mesh networks extend coverage with every routing accessory. When devices go offline, the network self-heals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
