In this role, you will play a critical part in developing andmaintainingembedded software solutions for secure communications systems. You will work in close collaboration withElectrical Circuit and FPGA Designersto deliver robust, high-performance software forcutting-edgeaerospace applications.
Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for COMSEC systems
Collaborate closely with Electrical Circuit and FPGA Designers to ensure seamless hardware/software integration
Drive work across all phases of the software development lifecycle — from requirements and architecture through implementation, code review, verification, and deployment
Develop low-level drivers and firmware for embedded hardware platforms
Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and verification activities
Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and documentation
Develop and execute software verification and validation plans, including unit, integration, and automated regression tests
Implement andmaintainsecure communications and cryptographic capabilities in compliance with applicable standards
Design and integrate device authentication mechanisms and identity management solutions into embedded platforms
Support the development and implementation of Zero Trust security principles within embedded system architectures
Ensure software development adheres to applicable standards and security requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
8+ years of experience in embedded software development
ProficiencyinC/C++for embedded systems
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces, includingSPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and similar protocols
Experience working with FPGA interfaces and register-level hardware integration
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers
Understanding ofZero Trust Architecture (ZTA)principles as defined byNIST SP 800-207and theDoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture
Experience developing and deployingSecure Bootand measured boot processes to ensure platform integrity
ActiveTop Secret security clearance
Experience in COMSEC, cryptographic systems, or securecommunications
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and frameworks such asNIST SP 800-53orRMF (Risk Management Framework)
Knowledge ofHigh Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptors (HAIPE)or similar secure communications equipment (e.g., TACLANE, KG-series)
Experience developing software interfaces for cryptographic hardware modules in compliance withFIPS 140-2/140-3standards
Experience applyingleast privilege, micro-segmentation, and continuous verificationprinciples within embedded or resource-constrained environments
Familiarity withidentity-aware access controlsand policy enforcement at the device and network layer
Knowledge of secure software development practices that align with Zero Trust frameworks, includingcontinuous monitoring and validationof system components
Experience integrating embedded systems into broaderZero Trust security ecosystems, including coordination with network and cloud security teams
Experience implementinghardware-based Root of Trust (RoT)using technologies such asTrusted Platform Module (TPM),Hardware Security Modules (HSM), orPhysically Unclonable Functions (PUF)
ProficiencyinPublic Key Infrastructure (PKI)and certificate-based authentication for embedded devices
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $181,626.00 - $254,275.35
