Job description

Our core competencies include systems engineering, program management, logistics, production support, aircraft maintenance, and aviation/aerospace services. We were founded in 2015 and since our establishment, we have been attracting the best talent in our fields of interest enabling us to provide cutting-edge solutions and support to our warfighters. We understand and provide expert consultation on weapons systems acquisition programs, maintenance/modernization programs, and sustainment programs. We know defense and we know aircraft systems.

Albers Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electronics Engineer to support the detailed design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electronic systems for defense applications. This position will focus on mixed-signal electronics, embedded control circuitry, power management, and safety-critical electronic systems, including Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (ESADs) and related technologies.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in analog and digital circuit design, printed circuit board (PCB) development, electronic component selection, and hardware verification. This individual will be responsible for electrical designs throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping through qualification and production transition.

The position requires a hands‑on engineer capable of moving quickly from concept to prototype to fieldable system, collaborating across multiple disciplines, balancing analytical rigor with practical execution.

This position operates in a fast-paced, rapid-development environment where engineers are expected to make sound technical decisions with incomplete information, rapidly mature designs, solve difficult integration problems, and balance performance, schedule, cost, producibility, and risk.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Design, develop, and validate analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for advanced defense applications.
  • Lead electrical design activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, circuit simulation, and design documentation.
  • Develop embedded electronic architectures incorporating microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, digital interfaces, and supporting circuitry.
  • Design and analyze power management, voltage regulation, energy storage, switching, signal conditioning, and monitoring circuits.
  • Support the development of safety‑critical electronic systems, including ESADs, electronic interlocks, built‑in‑test functionality, and fault‑monitoring circuitry.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation to evaluate performance, component tolerances, electrical margins, and environmental considerations.
  • Develop hardware prototypes and conduct bench‑level testing, debugging, and design verification.
  • Define electrical requirements, interface specifications, verification procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain electrical technical data packages, including schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly files, bills of materials, interface documentation, and test procedures.
  • Support hardware integration with mechanical assemblies, sensors, actuators, and embedded software.
  • Lead electrical design reviews, troubleshoot hardware failures, and perform root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support environmental qualification, production acceptance testing, and transition of electronic designs into manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams to meet technical and program objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Provide technical support for the selection and procurement of these electrical components, to include working with partner suppliers throughout the life cycle.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, or testing electronic hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience in analog and digital circuit design, including mixed‑signal electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer, Cadence, or equivalent ECAD tools.
  • Experience with circuit simulation and analysis tools such as LTspice, PSpice, or MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, including operational amplifiers, comparators, ADCs/DACs, MOSFETs, voltage regulators, and digital logic devices.
  • Experience with microcontroller‑based or programmable logic‑based hardware and associated digital interfaces.
  • Experience with PCB bring‑up, hardware troubleshooting, and design verification testing.
  • Proficiency with laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, and power supplies.
  • Ability to interpret electrical requirements, develop technical documentation, and communicate engineering results.
  • Experience supporting hardware development from prototype through qualification or production.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing electronic systems for aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability applications.
  • Experience with Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (ESADs), fuze electronics, or other safety‑critical electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1316, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, and MIL‑STD‑882.
  • Experience with FPGA, CPLD, or microcontroller‑based control architectures.
  • Experience with embedded C/C++, Python, or MATLAB for hardware interfacing, testing, and data analysis.
  • Experience with power switching, capacitor charging, energy storage, and high‑voltage power electronics.
  • Experience with sensor interfaces, signal conditioning, and precision timing circuitry.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and component derating practices.
  • Experience developing automated test equipment, test fixtures, and production acceptance procedures.
  • Experience with formal design verification, qualification testing, failure analysis, and engineering change control.
  • Familiarity with RF electronics, electromagnetic compatibility, and EMI/EMC design practices.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance.
Experience with or working knowledge of tools commonly used in electronics design, analysis, development, and verification, including:
  • PCB Design: Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or equivalent.
  • Embedded Electronics: Microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, ADCs, DACs, SPI, I2C, UART, CAN.
  • Analog Electronics: Amplifiers, comparators, filters, signal conditioning, voltage references, and power management.
  • Test Equipment: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, electronic loads, power supplies, and logic analyzers.
  • Documentation: Electrical schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, interface control documents, test procedures, and engineering technical data packages.
