Sr Electrical Project Engineer

LAYCO Electric Innovations, a well-established electrical products and skid mounted equipment manufacturer, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Engineer. Role Overview:

The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the engineering, design, and project execution of custom packaged equipment systems, including E-houses, power distribution centers, and other industrial building solutions. This role requires a highly technical background, extensive project management experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders. The Project Engineer will play a key role in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, sales, production, & field service. Review technical specifications, assist with budget, and project schedule.
  2. Produce, review, and approve general arrangement and electrical drawing packages and release bill of materials (BOM).
  3. Perform heat load analysis, and energy compliance using either COMcheck or EnergyPro to ensure the building meets state-specific energy code requirements.
  4. Interface between internal engineering and external clients on technical matters. Develop technical guidelines and specifications to improve and maintain product’s compliance to the latest codes/standards and industrial best practices.
  5. Field of practice includes general purpose and hazardous locations such as C1D2 Group B, C, D.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and engineering of packaged equipment systems, E-houses, power distribution centers, or industrial building solutions.
  3. Proven experience managing large, complex engineering projects from inception through completion.
  4. Expertise in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software, with a deep understanding of technical drawing and design standards.
  5. Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
  6. Strong understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NEMA, IEEE).
  7. PMP or PE certification is preferred but not required.
