Job summary

DSJ Global seeks a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead capital electrical projects in the Richmond area within a packaging manufacturing environment. You will direct multidisciplinary teams and oversee design, procurement, installation, and commissioning for initiatives with budgets over $5M.

Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate, with emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with maintenance and engineering staff to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Experience in the paper and pulp industry is preferred.
• Proficiency with PLCs (BaileyInfi90, DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLC5/ControlLogix), VFDs and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in planning and executing capital projects.
• Oversee design phases, team selection, and project scope development.
• Manage procurement, installation, and commissioning of equipment and systems.
• Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules.
• Implement and manage change plans and coordinate with consultants/contractors.
• Ensure safety compliance and regulatory adherence during projects.
• Support maintenance/engineering staff with technical guidance.

We are partnered with a leading packaging manufacturer, located in the Richmond VA metro, that is seeking a dedicated professional to lead both internal projects and large-scale initiatives with budgets exceeding $5M.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning and execution of capital projects.
• Oversee initial design phases, team selection, and project scope development.
• Manage the selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning of equipment and systems.
• Develop and monitor project budgets and schedules.
• Implement and manage change plans.
• Coordinate and manage external consultants and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.
• Uphold company standards by adhering to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee projects during scheduled maintenance outages.
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance and engineering staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
• Experience in the paper and pulp industry (preferred).
• Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controllers (e.g., BaileyInfi90, DeltaV, Allen Bradley PLC5 and ControlLogix), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Power Distribution Systems.
