Job summary

ITAC, in Virginia, seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and development for industrial projects. The role requires 15+ years in electrical engineering, a PE license, and proven leadership abilities for a small team.

You will work with AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP, review complex drawings, and ensure compliance with electrical codes. Onsite work is required at times; ITAC offers ESOP, strong benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license with multi-state eligibility.
• Familiarity with power system modeling and analysis software (SKM, ETAP, etc.).
• Ability to lead a small staff of designers and junior engineers.
• Proficient in developing specifications and design for MCCs, Switchgear, and VFDs.
• Ability to design electrical documentation including specs, drawings, schematics and calculations.
• Onsite work; strong communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs Electrical Engineering activities for all phases of development and equipment design.
• Lead and mentor designers and junior engineers on projects.
• Perform quality checks on Electrical Engineering work.
• Resolve technical design conflicts and ensure compliance with codes.
• Utilize AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP, and MS Office for project deliverables.

Responsibilities

Independently performs Electrical Engineering activities for all phases of Electrical development and equipment design for a project of moderate size and complexity. Must be fully competent in performing all conventional aspects of Electrical Engineering and application of independent judgment for the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering criteria, methods, and procedures. Assignments have objectives requiring the investigation of several variables. Periodic review of work done by less experienced engineers is required.

• 15+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)
• Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain licenses in multiple states, if needed. (NCEES certified or willing to obtain certification)
• Familiarity with power system modeling and analysis software (SKM, etap, etc.)
• Responsible for performing the layout, analysis, and design of the electrical engineering scope of work for industrial projects.
• Able to design and develop electrical documentation:
  • Electrical Equipment Specifications
  • Electrical Plan Drawings (Power, Lighting, Grounding, etc.)
  • Electrical Schematics (Single line diagrams, Motor Schematics, Interconnection diagrams, etc.)
  • Design Calculations
• Ability to work with and understand core design basis documentation (i.e., P&IDs, General Arrangements, Equipment List, etc.)
• Proficient in developing specifications and design for Motor control Centers (MCCs), Switchgear, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Ability to lead a small staff of designers and possibly junior engineers.
• Perform Quality checking procedures on Electrical Engineering work performed by others.
• The ability to resolve technical design conflicts.
• Incumbent must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments. This includes proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited school
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Strong knowledge and experience in electrical engineering design and project execution
• Familiarity with electrical design software, such as AutoCAD
• Proficient with relevant electrical codes and regulations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

The typical base salary range for this position is between$170,000-$195,000
