Job summary

Planet Pharma seeks an Automation Engineer to lead the electrical/controls support for the General Surgical Products Focus Factory. You will drive equipment qualification, retrofit projects, and new equipment procurement, while creating required documentation and validating IQ/OQ protocols.

The role requires PLC/vision platforms experience, reading schematics, and supporting cross-functional teams to improve OEE. Travel to sites and suppliers is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience with PLCs (GuardLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and Vision systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and diagnose motion controllers.
  • Familiar with NFPA standards and automated assembly equipment troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to maintenance as required
  • Address manufacturing issues on a daily basis as needed
  • Troubleshoot machine stoppages and perform root cause analysis
  • Read electrical schematics
  • Create and provide equipment specifications to vendors for quoting
  • Review and develop process improvements to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and risk assessments; ensure CTQ is defined
  • Assist with supplier qualification activities and equipment qualification
  • Lead validations and coordinate cross-functional activities
  • Travel to manufacturing sites and suppliers (approx. 10%).

Automated Labeling Systems

The electrical/controls support of various manufacturing areas within the General Surgical Products Focus Factory . This includes being the project lead in manufacturing process improvements, assembly equipment retrofit projects and new equipment procurement. Will be responsible for providing all documentation required to support assembly equipment. This includes but is not limited to operating instructions, electrical schematics, specifications, parameter settings, software backups, requirement specifications. Will write FAT, SAT and execution of Installation Qualification (IQ) functional protocol challenges.

  • Provide technical support to maintenance as required
  • Address appropriately related manufacturing issues on a daily basis as need
  • Troubleshoot machine stoppages and provide root cause analysis for manufacturing teams
  • Ability to read Electrical schematics
  • Create and provide equipment specifications to vendors for quoting automated and manual equipment.
  • Review and develop process improvements to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of manufacturing systems.
  • Review equipment quotes, design reviews and work with project teams to provide custom assembly equipment.
  • Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, Machine Risk Assessments, and quality (CTQ) processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.
  • Key participant in equipment specifications, supplier selection, and qualification activities.
  • Key participant in all Validation activities.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations.
  • 10% travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required. (Domestic).

Requirements:

1) Experience with PLC & Vision platforms (GuardLogix, CompactLogix and ControlLogix Platforms) and HMI’s (FactoryTalk ME/SE) and Vision Inspection (Cognex, Keyence)
2) Ability to read Electrical schematics Experience and experience in diagnosing servo and stepper motion control and controllers.
3) Proficient in electrical and controls design with experience using NFPA standards with experience in automated assembly equipment with ability to trouble shooting equipment using conventional diagnostic tools
