Job summary

SiLC Technologies, Inc is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead digital/analog electronics architecture and design for short-range lidar products. You will own multi-domain board layout in Altium, work closely with optical, firmware and mechanical engineers, and drive products from prototype to production.

You will design RF/analog signal chains, integrate high-speed digital logic with FPGAs, and ensure CE compliance while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Expert-level proficiency with Altium Designer, including schematic capture and complex multi-domain board layout.
• Experience designing high-speed (>1 GHz) digital boards with FPGAs, microprocessors, multiple power domains, and Ethernet.
• Experience designing RF/analog signal chains (>1 GHz ADC/DAC) and analog electronics for optoelectronic components (TIAs, photodiodes, laser drivers).
• Working knowledge of CE compliance design practices (EMI/EMC, electrical safety), with pre-compliance testing experience.
• Firmware/embedded familiarity to support hardware/firmware co-validation.
• Hands-on experience with test equipment (scopes, VNAs, spectrum/logic analyzers, power supplies).
• Experience coordinating board outlines and thermal/heat management with mechanical engineering.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across optical, firmware, and mechanical teams.
• Verilog (preferred) or VHDL.

Responsibilities

• Define system-level digital and analog architecture and do full schematic capture and board layout in Altium Designer.
• Design analog electronics for photonics and RF/high-speed signal chains with proper grounding/shielding.
• Ensure CE emissions, immunity and electrical safety with pre‑compliance considerations.
• Lead board bring-up, debug and validation with test equipment and firmware collaboration.
• Coordinate board outline and mechanical footprint with mechanical engineering and export outlines for SolidWorks.
• Support product lifecycle from prototype to production, including BOM/ECO management and design reviews/CCBs.
• Provide ongoing production support, field issue analysis, cost reduction and DFM/DFA-driven revisions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

SiLC is a silicon photonics and optical sensing company building next-generation coherent lidar solutions. We have an immediate opening for a full-time, on-site (in Monrovia, CA) Senior Electrical Engineer. This person will be an individual contributor responsible for digital and analog electronics architecture and design for SiLC’s short range lidar products.This role involves close daily collaboration with optical/photonic engineers, firmware engineers, and mechanical engineers. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing complex multi-domain (digital/analog/RF) boards, strong Altium expertise, and hands‑on bring‑up skills. The candidate should have strong communication skills and be able to own all aspects of the product life cycle from prototype to production.

Responsibilities:

• Define system-level digital and analog architecture and perform full schematic capture and board layout in Altium Designer
• Design analog electronics for photonics (TIAs, photodiodes, laser drivers) and RF/high-speed ADC/DAC signal chains, with rigorous grounding/shielding to isolate sensitive analog from digital noise.
• Design boards to meet CE emissions, immunity, and electrical safety requirements, incorporating pre-compliance considerations into layout and stack‑up.
• Lead board bring‑up, debug, and validation using oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, logic analyzers, and precision power supplies, collaborating with firmware engineers on FPGA/processor validation.
• Coordinate board outline and mechanical footprint with mechanical engineering, exporting Altium outlines for SolidWorks integration.
• Support the full product lifecycle — R&D prototyping, detailed design, pilot builds, NPI, and production — including BOM/ECO management and design reviews/CCBs.
• Provide ongoing support for products in production, including field issues, cost reduction, yield enhancement, and DFM/DFA-driven design revisions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior electrical engineers

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of CE compliance design practices (EMI/EMC, electrical safety), with pre‑compliance testing experience.
• Firmware/embedded familiarity sufficient to support hardware/firmware co‑validation.
• Hands‑on experience with standard electronics test equipment (scopes, VNAs, spectrum/logic analyzers, power supplies).
• Experience coordinating board outlines and thermal/heat management with mechanical engineering.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills across optical, firmware, and mechanical teams.

Bonus Skills:

Compensation

• Base salary: $130,000 - $160,000 based on experience level and qualifications
