Job summary

Fortive in Irvine, CA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to plan and execute electrical design for medical device systems. You will lead design of electrical systems, schematics, PCB layouts, and cabling, while generating requirements for manufacturability and testability.

You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely delivery. The role emphasizes V&V testing, design reviews, and documentation to support project decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience (or 3+ years with Master's).
• Embedded design experience.
• Experience with sensors - electronic, temperature, optical, etc.
• Optical design familiarity a plus.

The Sr Electrical Engineer will plan and execute electrical design and development activities for medical device systems and components. Manage projects of moderate scope and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure quality and compliance. Acts as a resource for less experienced engineers and contributes to innovative, reliable solutions for medical device components.Key Responsibilities:Plan and conduct design and development of electrical systems, schematics, and PCB layouts, and cable/harness designs.Independently generate requirements and ensure design for manufacturability and testabilityConduct technical design reviews and resolve complex engineering issuesExecute and document verification and validation testing.Prepare documentation, test protocols, and reports to support project planning and decision-making.Mentor junior engineers, Collaborates across functions and with external partners to address technical challenges and ensure timely project delivery.Apply FBS tools and best practices for continuous improvementPerforms Failure Analyses and Investigation reports.Education and Experience Requirements :Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering5+ years of relevant experience (or 3+ years with Master's)Embedded design experienceExperience with general types of sensors - electronic, temperator, optical, etc.Familiar with optical design a plusRole and Competencies Requirement:In-depth knowledge in analog/digital circuit design and PCB tools (Orcad, PSPICE)Strong problem-solving and project management skillsKnowledge of safety standards and ESD practicesProficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, and collaboration toolsEffective communication and leadership skillsFamiliarity with FBS and continuous improvement principlesAbility to work independently and in teamProficient with Design for manufacturingProficient with Design for testabilityUses general hand and laboratory tools.Domestic and International travel as required
