Job summary

Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), managed by Honeywell FMT, seeks a Sr Electrical Engineer to support highly technical manufacturing processes and lead multi-disciplinary projects. You will design, evaluate, and quality-control advanced engineering initiatives, driving solutions and applying engineering principles.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or Physics ABET-accredited, 6+ years of experience, US citizenship, and DOE clearance (as needed).

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or Physics from ABET-accredited program.
• 6+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DOE security clearance (as required).
• US Citizenship is required.
• Travel up to 15% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for highly technical manufacturing processes.
• Manage projects with multi-discipline teams to meet quality, delivery and cost goals.
• Monitor electrical testing, troubleshoot, and coordinate rework as needed.
• Write technical reports and incorporate findings into specs.
• Transition concepts from design to production with cross-functional teams.
• Lead development of operating procedures and inspection criteria.
• Recommend design changes and experiments to assure product quality.
• Plan and perform engineering testing using advanced methods.
• Determine process/material acceptability with customers and stakeholders.
• Provide technical consultation to management and lead project teams.
• Drive innovations that improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Mentor Engineer I-III on test processes and procedures.

Summary

The Sr Electrical Engineer role involves providing engineering support of highly technical and advanced manufacturing processes, with specialized qualifications, knowledge and skill. This position also requires performing project management while designing, developing, evaluating, and quality control functions of highly complex engineering projects. Sr Electrical Engineers complete projects while offering innovative solutions and applying mathematical, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Acts as authority within area of expertise with wide versatility of experience and capability.
• May perform project planning and manage project resources, including multiple individuals and disciplines, to achieve quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Monitors and analyzes electrical testing of products and troubleshoots test failures. Coordinates with stakeholders to adjust test limits and develop rework processes on defective products.
• Writes technical reports on results and conclusions drawn from experiments conducted and incorporates findings in formal specifications.
• Transitions design agency concepts into production by coordinating the activities of engineering, quality, manufacturing, and related organizations.
• Leads developing operating procedures, work instructions, and inspection criteria on new products and components.
• Defines/recommends design changes, designs of experiments, and equipment necessary to assure product quality.
• Plans and performs engineering testing and uses advanced statistical and scientific methods to address and resolve critical engineering and production problems. Originates, refines, and releases complex manufacturing or inspection work directions.
• Determines acceptability of processes and materials in conjunction with customers, design agency and other affected organizations.
• Provides technical consultation to management and leads technical project teams.
• Evaluates and implements innovations and technological advances that improve quality, reduce flowtime, improve productivity, and enhance operational surety.
• Leads, trains and mentors Engineer I, II and III on various test processes and procedures.

You Must Have

• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics
• 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering or related technical activities
• United States Citizenship
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
