Job summary

Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) seeks an Electrical Engineer II in Albuquerque to perform routine to moderately complex engineering tasks on assigned projects, applying standard mathematical, physical science, and engineering techniques. This role requires a BS from an ABET-accredited program and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Travel up to 15% and the ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management are required.

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited university in Engineering or Physics.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

• United States Citizenship is required.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DOE security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and/or project/process management of new and current projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under supervision.
• Prepare product or project definitions, manufacturing drawings and specifications, operating procedures, and test equipment designs.
• Design product and acceptance equipment; develop measurement methods and designate tooling and lab equipment.
• Develop test procedures and perform routine to moderately complex engineering tests and quality audits.
• Conduct audits, analyze processes and products, and identify issues to establish quality levels and trends.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to resolve moderately complex development, production, and acceptance issues.
• Prepare evaluation reports, analyze discrepancies, and propose improvements for products.

Summary

The Electrical Engineer II role is an experienced level position performing routine to moderately complex engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects of a general nature by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and/or engineering technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and/or project/process management of new and current projects, products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher-level technical experts.
• Prepares product or project definitions, manufacturing drawings and specifications, operating procedures, and test equipment designs.
• Designs product and acceptance equipment; develops measurement methods, acquires, and designates tooling, cables, laboratory and other equipment to support product acceptance.
• Develops test procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability.
• Conducts audits, analyzes processes, products, and inspection records to anticipate, identify, and correct problems and to establish quality levels and trends.
• Partners with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex, development, production, and acceptance issues.
• Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations for and initiates improvements for product.

You Must Have

• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited university in Engineering or Physics
• 2+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
• United States Citizenship
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
