Nidec Drives is seeking a senior electrical engineer in Illinois to design and develop automotive electronic modules and components. The role includes customer liaison and inter-company coordination for new product design, with emphasis on accuracy, complex power electronics, and test procedures for automotive parts.
7+ years of automotive electrical design experience is preferred, with a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.

This position is responsible for the design and development of automotive electronic modules and components, as well as customer liaison and inter-company coordination or new product design. This position demands attention to detail, accuracy and technical competence. Also, in-depth knowledge of automotive specifications and automotive electronics and knowledge of test procedures required for automotive parts.
7+ years or 5+ years w/ automotive experience (automotive electrical design experience is preferred)
Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Electrical Design in Power Systems (Experience w/ DC-DC Converters/DC-AC Inverters highly desired).High voltage experience (>60V) is a plus. Experience with modeling CAD tools such as LTSpice or PSpice, Mathcad, and Altium. Experience with analog, digital, and power systems circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, and circuit simulation. Ability to do power dissipation calculation, worst-case tolerance analysis, and design failure mode effect analysis. Electronics prototype construction and design verification testing. Validation testing experience is a plus. EMC compliance and design verification testing and review. EMC/EMI knowledge is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Experience with Confluence and JIRA is a plus.
The individual must have a strong attention to detail and be a strong problem solver. Experience with 8-D problem solving method (or similar) is a plus. The individual must be innovative and accountable for actions. Ability to effectively manage time. Strong communication skills are desirable. Experience with automotive electronics hardware design and requirements preferred.
