Job summary

Moog Space and Defense Group seeks a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to own the electrical design lifecycle for complex boards and subsystems. You will interpret requirements, define architectures, produce schematics, validate with analysis and tests, and document supporting results.

You will lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multi-discipline teams, while producing clear design documentation and supporting lab bring-up.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years hands-on hardware/electrical design experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficient with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro and Altium.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools including SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and Mathcad.
  • Knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with power devices/modules or motor control is a plus.
  • Ability to produce clear design documentation and support board bring-up and lab debugging.

Moog Space and Defense Group is a proven provider of high-performance and reliable space-rated avionics hardware and software. MOOG has partnered with NASA to provide electronic solutions for the Artemis Orion Crew Capsule, Viper Lunar Rover, Satellite Laser Communications Relay, OSIRIS-REX, and complete satellite buses for the defense department.

Role Overview

The Sr. Electrical Design Engineer will own the electrical design lifecycle for complex boards and subsystems. In this role, you will interpret requirements, define system and block-level architectures, produce schematics and block diagrams, validate designs through analysis and test, and produce supporting documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Define system and block-level architectures and produce detailed schematics and block diagrams.
  • Validate designs through electrical, thermal, and electromagnetic analysis and through test.
  • Produce design documentation and support board bring-up and lab debugging.
  • Provide PCB design guidance including stack-up, routing, SI/PI considerations.
  • Lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate multi-discipline teams as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on hardware/electrical design experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro and Altium.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools including SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and Mathcad.
  • Working knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis and mitigation techniques.
  • Familiarity with power devices/modules or motor control is a plus.
  • Proven ability to produce clear design documentation and support board bring-up and laboratory debugging.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of harsh-environment or aerospace-grade hardware such as radiation-tolerant design and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Demonstrated history of analog (instrumentation) and digital design implementation and commissioning.
  • Experience collaborating with SI/PI or FPGA teams and using modeling evidence to support design reviews.
