Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Sr. Elastic Engineer to support a DoD-focused tech organization, delivering mission-critical solutions nationwide. This role is fully onsite at Scott AFB in Illinois, requiring an active Secret clearance or higher and relocation assistance.

The ideal candidate will build Elastic environments from scratch, manage ECK and Kubernetes, and own platform operations, including IAM security, ingestion pipelines, and integrations across production clusters.

Responsibilities

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr. Elastic Engineer to support a leading technology and engineering organization delivering mission-critical solutions across the U.S. Department of Defense, intelligence community, and federal civilian agencies. This role is fully onsite at Scott AFB in Illinois (No Flexibility, relocation assistance provided) and requires an active Secret clearance or higher*

The ideal Sr. Elastic Engineer should be able to build and deploy Elastic environments from scratch, understand Kubernetes and ECK, and have the platform engineering experience to own the environment through ongoing operations and maintenance. They should also have experience supporting production-scale Elastic clusters, ingest pipelines and integrations, and IAM/security within the platform.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Elastic Engineer

• Build, deploy, and own Elastic environments and custom clusters across production Kubernetes environments.
• Deploy and manage Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK), including ECK Operator/Helm-based deployments and containerized infrastructure.
• Manage day-to-day Elastic platform operations, maintenance, performance, scalability, and reliability after deployment.
• Build and configure custom ingest pipelines and integrations, including Cribl where applicable.
• Implement and manage IAM policies and platform security across large-scale environments.

Qualifications for the Sr. Elastic Engineer

• Strong platform engineering experience building and managing Elastic environments from scratch through ongoing production operations.
• Hands-on Elastic/Elasticsearch and Kubernetes experience, including custom cluster deployments at meaningful production scale.
• Working knowledge of ECK and ability to explain its architecture, deployment, and operation; direct ECK Operator experience preferred.
• Experience with IAM policies, ingest pipelines, pipeline integrations, and containerization.
• Active Secret clearance or higher*
• Ability & Willingness to work fully onsite at Scott AFB in Illinois*
• Highly Preferred:
  • Cribl, Rancher, ECE/ECH, Splunk-to-Elastic migration, and Elastic security experience are preferred.

Compensation for the Sr. Elastic Engineer

• Salary Range: Up to $300,000 *depending on experience*
