Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior EHS Manager to lead safety, health, and environmental programs for Launch and Recovery operations at its Florida facilities. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, incident response, and continuous improvement across engineering and production teams.

You will guide industrial hygiene, hazard control, and environmental obligations while supporting design reviews and training. Travel up to 30% and relocation are expected for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety.
  • 8+ years total work in EHS.
  • 5+ years in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and Florida regulations.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods.
  • Strong technical writing and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary EHS leader supporting Launch and Recovery operations, ensuring safe execution of launch campaigns, recovery activities, and associated ground operations.
  • Manage EHS professionals in accomplishment of organizational goals.
  • Implement EHS programs for evaluation and control of hazards including industrial hygiene, fall protection, confined space, lock out tag out, process safety management, hazard assessments, hearing conservation and noise hazards, heat stress, and environmental management.
  • Provide domain expertise in design and test reviews.
  • Support incidents including spills, injuries, hazardous operations, launches, hurricanes, and other emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at Florida facilities.
  • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Update and ensure compliance with Blue Origin processes and procedures.
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our EHS program.
  • Assist in waste disposal activities including hazardous waste and recycling materials.
  • Contribute to incident and event reporting process.
  • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training.
  • Serve as site focal point for safety and environmental issues.
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and preventive action.
  • Support development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments.
  • Provide input for building design and operations from EHS perspective.
  • Perform periodic audits of Safety Programs.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This role is part of the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of EHS Professionals, you will serve as the Senior EHS Manager supporting Launch and Recovery Operations at Blue Origin's Florida facilities. You will provide domain expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS and share in the team's impact on all aspects of safety and health compliance with local, state, and federal laws — including, but not limited to: OSHA, PSM, NFPA, and ANSI requirements. You will also ensure environmental compliance with applicable regulations including NEPA, RCRA, SWPPP, SPCC, and NPDES.

Special Mentions: Travel expected up to 30% of the time Relocation provided.

Day Shift Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as the primary EHS leader supporting Launch and Recovery operations, ensuring safe execution of launch campaigns, recovery activities, and associated ground operations
  • Manages EHS professionals in accomplishment of organizational goals
  • Implements EHS programs for the evaluation and control of potential hazards including, but not limited to industrial hygiene; fall protection; confined space; lock out tag out; process safety management; hazard assessments; hearing conservation and noise hazards; heat stress; and environmental management
  • Performs a wide range of EHS consultation services, which includes planning, managing, and reporting the results of assessments
  • Provides domain expertise in design and test reviews
  • Provides support to incidents, including spills; injuries, hazardous operations; launches; hurricanes; and other emergencies
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at all Florida facilities
  • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required
  • Continually update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin processes and procedures
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our EHS Program
  • Assist in waste disposal activities including hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste, and recycling materials
  • Contribute to the incident and event reporting process
  • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training
  • Serve as site focal point for safety and environmental issues and concerns
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
  • Supporting development of job hazard analyses and risk assessments

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety
  • 8+ years total work in EHS
  • 5+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry
  • Knowledge and ability to use industrial hygiene tools and monitors
  • Knowledge and technical abilities with Environmental Expertise in writing technical reports
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA and State of Florida regulations
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods
  • Knowledge of incident / accident reporting practices, investigations, root cause / corrective action processes
  • Good analytical skills and attention to details, technical writing, with an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information
  • Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds. Must be able to physically climb multiple flights stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to take ownership and insist on the highest standards with all environmental, health, and safety
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years total work in EHS
  • 7+ years work experience in operational aerospace environment, manufacturing, or chemical industry
  • Expertise in Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification
  • Direct experience in launch site or launch range EHS operations
