Job description

Location: This position is located in Carlsbad, California at the corporate headquarters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote an Employee-Driven Safety Culture
  • Implements safety, health and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections and hazard assessments at assigned sites.
  • Provides product safety reviews, risk assessments, and regulatory certifications.
  • Delivers safety training sessions on topics such as ergonomics, PPE, and emergency response.
  • Supports international sites and site EHS Representatives.
  • Supports workers’ compensation claims management and interfaces with workers’ compensation specialist to reduce workers’ compensation costs.
  • Develops job safety analyses (JSAs) and safe work procedures.
  • Investigates incidents and supports root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partners with engineering and operations teams to ensure machine designs meet applicable safety standards.
  • Hazardous waste management, including collection, labeling, storage, and disposal.
  • Maintains accurate records for training, audits, and compliance reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CPEA, ISO Lead Auditor) a plus.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience; multi-site or international scope a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, applicable ISO, CE marking, UL, ANSI, and equivalent international standards.
  • Familiarity with EHS software, dashboards, and KPIs for trend analysis and compliance tracking.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Mobility and stamina – standing, walking, frequent on feet during site visits.
  • Bending, climbing, and kneeling – when inspecting equipment or accessing confined spaces.
  • Balancing – maintaining balance on uneven or slippery surfaces during site visits.
  • Lifting – up to 35 to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Repetitive motions – moderate to high degrees of hand and arm movements.
  • Travel – portion of job may involve domestic or international travel.
  • Exposure to hazards – noise, fumes, dust, moving machinery, toxic chemicals or electrical hazards.
  • Varying temperatures – exposure to non-climate-controlled environments and extreme temperatures.
  • Working at heights or in tight spaces – required for some inspection tasks.
  • Clear vision – required to read equipment gauges and observe fine details.
  • Color differentiation – necessary for safety markings and color-coded systems.
  • Hearing – required to recognize equipment sounds.
  • Smell – necessary to detect odors of potential gas leaks or chemical spills.
  • Protective equipment – wearing PPE such as safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators.
Compensation

During the internship, you will continue receiving your current military pay. Completion of the internship does not guarantee a full-time offer.

If an offer is extended, the annual base salary is expected to range from $67,000 to $92,000, depending on experience level.
