Job summary
Brady Corporation seeks an EH&S Engineer to develop, implement, and monitor programs ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. The role reports to the SPC Plant Manager and supports both the Louisville (SPC Plant) and Lexington (Funai R&D) locations.
The engineer will maintain regulatory records, coordinate audits, and drive waste consolidation, safety training, and contractor safety management across all shifts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Industrial/Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety or EHS engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience developing safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding and hazard communication programs.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with facility permitting and communications with government agencies and other third parties.
- Ability to effectively communicate with, present to, and collaborate with employees at all levels.
- Experience and knowledge related to chemical safety, process safety management, and air permitting.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
- High level of attention to detail.

Brady Corporation is seeking an EH&S Engineer who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. Operating under the direct supervision of the SPC Plant Manager, this role maintains accurate records for regulatory reporting and compiles site metrics in support of the management team for both the Louisville (SPC Plant) and Lexington (Funai R&D) locations.
The EH&S Engineer works effectively with site management and all employees when coordinating events, auditing, or participating in projects. They are also responsible for maintaining safety equipment inventory, performing periodic safety inspections, and handling the consolidation of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the plant complies with all federal, state, and local EH&S regulations.
- Audits & Inspections: Perform management system audits and required safety inspections.
- Records Management: Maintain all required EH&S records and documentation in an orderly, electronic fashion (when feasible), striving for annual improvements on CPE audits.
- Operating Procedures: Provide updates to EH&S operating procedures and programs.
- Compliance Calendar: Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar of training requirements, regulatory reporting, and other tasks (e.g., testing or sampling).
- Program Management: Support the management of site-specific EH&S policies, programs, and practices.
- EH&S Training: Conduct required EH&S training, including New Employee Orientation, monthly safety topics, and contractor safety reviews (across all 3 shifts).
- Committee Leadership: Manage the site Safety Committee and 5S Committee.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary technical resource for EH&S compliance questions.
- Contractor Safety Management Program: Ensure external service providers, equipment installers, and maintenance contractors adhere to site safety policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk management protocols.
- Investigation: Participate in and lead the investigation of all near-miss, first-aid, and recordable accidents and incidents.
- Corrective Action: Determine root causes and assist in creating, implementing, and closing corrective action and mitigation plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement project initiatives to continuously improve plant safety.
- Waste Management: Organize and handle the consolidation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments.
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate vendor supplies, safety equipment inventory, and external services.
- Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Industrial/Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a safety or EHS engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience developing safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding and hazard communication programs
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with facility permitting and communications with government agencies and other third parties
- Ability to effectively communicate with, present to, and collaborate with employees at all levels
- Experience and knowledge related to chemical safety, process safety management, and air permitting
- Ability to travel up to 15%
- High level of attention to detail
- Professional certification such as PE, CHMM, CIH, ASP or CSP
- 5+ years of experience working in a safety or EHS engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience developing safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding and hazard communication programs
- Experience in lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement systems (ISO 14001, etc)
