About the team - As a Sr. Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) on Capital One’s Enterprise product & platform organization, we’re looking for someone that can help us build solid platforms on mobile and web surfaces that will help Capital One customers have incredible experiences. The platforms are the foundational blocks on which Capital One’s various lines of businesses (like credit card, retail banking, auto finance) will build delightful experiences for our customers.

In addition to the technical program, you will also work to pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team, by leveraging your industry knowledge and experience to teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life‑cycle
• Experience building and leading a world‑class team of technical program managers with a mission to power real‑time, intelligent experiences for our customers and associates
• Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership by providing valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology‑based decisions
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
• A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
• Experienced TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs, while also building the foundations for the TPM practice

Basic Qualifications

• At least 9 years of experience in technical program management
• Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

• 9+ years of experience designing and building data‑intensive solutions using distributed computing.
• At least 2 years of experience with the full ML development lifecycle using modern technology in a business critical setting. Previous experience with machine learning (building models, deploying models, setting up cloud infrastructure and/or data pipelines) and familiarity with major ML frameworks such as XGBoost, PyTorch, AWS SageMaker, etc.
• 5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture - preferably using AWS
• 5+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms
• 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery
• 5+ years years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross‑functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact
• Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
• ML industry impact through conference presentations, papers, blog posts, open source contributions, or patents
• MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience

• Sales Territory: $240,300 – $274,300
• Cambridge, MA: $264,300 – $301,700
• McLean, VA: $264,300 – $301,700
• New York, NY: $288,400 – $329,100
• Richmond, VA: $240,300 – $274,300
• San Francisco, CA: $288,400 – $329,100

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
