About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategically-minded Sr. Director of Strategic Planning to join our Strategy, Marketing & Operations team. This individual contributor position reports directly to the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Management and serves as a key thought partner to SCS segment leadership in shaping near-term strategic direction. The role is responsible for translating SCS's long-range vision into actionable fiscal year priorities, developing macro-level strategic direction for SCS's sub-segments, and leading structured strategy development across a range of cross-functional initiatives. This position sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, working across SCS's business segments with direct visibility into senior leadership decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong strategic instincts, analytical rigor, and the executive presence to influence decisions at the senior leadership level. They are intellectually versatile, comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, and able to move fluidly across a wide range of project types.

What You’ll Do
Strategy Development
  • Drive the development of macro-level strategic direction for SCS's sub-segments, including Strategic Accounts, Health Mart, CPH, and Specialized Care Pharmacy, translating market and competitive insight into clear where-to-play and how-to-win choices that guide near-term investment and prioritization.
  • Serve as a critical thought partner in the development of SCS's long-range (3-5 year) strategy.
  • Work in close partnership with segment leaders and the Strategy & Transformation team to inform strategic options, stress-test assumptions, and ensure business-specific considerations are embedded in the plan.
  • Drive structured, consistent processes that support segment leaders' decision-making, providing analytical frameworks, synthesized recommendations, and scenario-based perspectives that improve the quality and speed of key choices.
Annual Planning & Strategic Initiatives
  • Collaborate with corporate strategy, finance, and business unit leaders to build a comprehensive fact base and synthesize inputs into a cohesive view that drives annual priority setting.
  • Facilitate planning sessions with SCS leadership to develop and align on annual priorities, bringing a structured perspective on strategic options, trade-offs, and a point of view on where the business should invest.
  • Drive the strategic direction of SCS's annual priority initiatives, defining the intent, scope, and key choices that set each initiative up for successful execution.
Strategic Insights & Market Intelligence
  • Develop robust, actionable insights across market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks and opportunities, translating findings into strategic recommendations that inform priorities and key decisions.
  • Manage primary research projects end-to-end: design the research approach, collect and analyze data, and translate findings into strategy-informing recommendations for senior leadership.
Basic Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of strategy or consulting experience, or relevant healthcare industry experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategy: Strong strategic thinking capability to evaluate industry trends, develop short- and long-term implications, and recommend actionable strategies. Equally comfortable setting macro direction at the segment level and operating at the initiative level within a defined scope of work.
  • Analytical rigor: Ability to bring structure to undefined problems, synthesize insights from disparate sources, and produce credible, decision-ready recommendations.
  • Executive presence and communication: Able to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely, both in writing and in the room, and to develop credibility with senior leaders across functions.
  • Lead without authority: Strong ability to influence and align cross-functional teams toward shared goals without direct ownership of resources or decision rights.
  • Resourceful and self-directed: Operates with a high degree of independence; identifies paths forward in ambiguous situations by leveraging relationships, judgment, and creative problem-framing.
  • Intellectually versatile: Able to contribute meaningfully across a wide range of project types and strategic questions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: Thrives in environments where the problem is unclear and the path forward requires both intellectual rigor and pragmatic judgment.
  • Healthcare knowledge: Familiarity with the stakeholders, trends, economic drivers, and policy dynamics across the healthcare industry.
Education
  • 4-year bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a strategy, consulting, or finance-oriented program preferred
Travel/Physical Requirements
  • General office demands
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 30% of the time
