Our Project Delivery teams within PPD clinical research services manage the technical and operational aspects of projects, ensuring successful trial completion. This involves collaborating with functional leads to identify issues and implement solutions. Project Delivery is essential to helping our customers deliver life-changing therapies.

Through our global team, you may engage in diverse initiatives or be part of a virtual international project team, gaining cross-cultural experience. Therapeutic areas include infectious and respiratory diseases, oncology/hematology, neurosciences, cardiovascular, metabolic diseases, general medicine, and vaccines.

We are seeking a Senior Director, Project Management for our Non-Interventional Oversight Team. This role is for the North America region and is remote-based.

This role provides expertise to ensure efficient project delivery, responding swiftly and effectively to escalations. The Director encourages critical thinking in Project Leads, especially regarding operational execution, financial negotiations, and risk management. They also lead strategy development for proposals and pre-proposal opportunities, aligning with broader business objectives.

A day in the Life:

  • Manage staff, including interviewing, hiring, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching, mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approve salary actions, hiring, corrective actions, and terminations. Review and approve time records, expenses, leave requests, and overtime.
  • Accountable for strategic management of client-specific portfolios within a Therapeutic Unit.
  • Serve as a senior or executive contact.
  • Review financial forecasts of therapeutic areas.
  • Champion organizational changes, offerings, and developments; lead workstreams.
  • Navigate situations effectively while empowering Project Leads.
  • Promote critical thinking and drive innovation related to project delivery, negotiations, and prioritization.
  • Contribute to proposal strategies for bid defenses.
  • Collaborate with Therapeutic Unit Heads on business growth strategies.
  • Engage in the Con Mod process as appropriate.
  • Work with People Managers to support employee development, considering client needs and therapeutic knowledge.

Keys to Success:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant qualifications.

Experience:

  • At least 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of management responsibility.
  • Advanced leadership skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, assessing sponsor regulatory needs and ensuring compliant deliverables.
  • Broad understanding of global/regional/national regulatory requirements for clinical trials, with expertise in ICH and other guidelines.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, statistical concepts, and guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and resource management skills.
  • Executive presence and excellent presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership abilities.
