General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) seeks a Sr Director of Operations to oversee a single manufacturing facility in Scranton, PA. The role directs all production activities, ensures safety, quality and cost targets, and may include overseeing accounting and HR functions.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Has overall responsibility for a single manufacturing facility | Directs all aspects of production activity at the assigned plant to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost | May be responsible for Accounting, Human Resources and other staff functions

Essential Functions
  • Directs manufacturing operations and management teams for plants and locations of the organization that support business goals.
  • Incorporates the organizational strategy and plans for operational safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and cost control policies and programs in manufacturing processes.
  • Monitors production metrics and recommends process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Drives workforce planning activities and approves/ allocates resources based on business priorities.
  • Implements long-term plans for facilities, equipment, materials, technology, and workforce resources to maintain manufacturing capacity and processes.
  • Leads and directs the work of other managers and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 10-12 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Business degree preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Capacity planning. Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM). Manufacturing operations management. Process optimization. Resource planning. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
