Job Description: seeking a Sr. Director, Interconnection to provide strategic and operational leadership over the generation and load interconnection functions across national portfolio of solar, energy storage, and natural gas projects, along with our applications for large load service. This role owns the interconnection strategy end-to-end, from queue positioning and application strategy through study process oversight and interconnection agreement negotiation. The ideal candidate brings deep, senior-level expertise in large generator and load interconnection processes, transmission planning, and can navigate the evolving regulatory environment on generation and load. The successful candidate has a track record of leading interconnection strategy for a multi-gigawatt utility-scale pipeline, and demonstrates success negotiating and executing GIAs and energy supply agreements. This person will build and lead a team of interconnection professionals, set functional strategy, and serve as the executive facing voice on interconnection matters.

The Sr. Director, Interconnection will work closely with development, asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance teams, and will manage and mentor the interconnection team.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the overall interconnection strategy across utility-scale solar, energy storage, and natural gas portfolio, aligning queue positioning and application timing with corporate development priorities and load interconnection requests
• Lead, build, and mentor a team of interconnection professionals, setting priorities, providing technical and strategic guidance, and developing team capabilities
• Serve as a senior representative in interconnection negotiations with ISOs, utilities, and regulatory agencies, including leading GIA and ESA negotiations on the most complex and highest value projects.
• Direct site selection and transmission feasibility analysis at a portfolio level to identify and prioritize interconnection opportunities ahead of queue application windows.
• Oversee the interconnection application and study process across projects, including pre-application feasibility analysis, application submission, study agreements, and communication of study results to executive leadership.
• Direct engagement of transmission consulting engineers and other outside advisors, and oversee technical package development supporting applications.
• Ensure timely execution of study agreements and payment of deposits and study fees across the portfolio.
• Establish and oversee governance for tracking queue milestones portfolio-wide, including:
  • Deficiency corrections
  • Scoping meetings
  • Study agreement execution and funding
  • Study results meetings
  • Generator Interconnection Agreement negotiation and execution
  • GIA milestone tracking and execution
• Build and maintain senior-level relationships with utilities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to advance interconnection approvals and standing in key markets.
• Represent in ISO/PTO Generation Interconnection and other stakeholder forums, and advise executive management on industry trends, tariff changes, and policy developments affecting interconnection strategy.
• Engage with hyperscaler and customer teams to enable load service, including coordination with high voltage engineering and construction teams to ensure reliable and expedient load service
• Direct coordination and strategy for co-location of generation projects with data center campuses.
• Oversee development and maintenance of company tracking tools and ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy for executive and board-level updates.
• Manage budgets, consultants, and other service provider relationships, including work order approvals and vendor performance oversight.
