The Sr. Director of Nursing, Perioperative Services, provides daily operational administration for clinical practice and operations throughout the Main and Ambulatory Care Pavilion Operating Rooms. The Sr. Director supervises, coordinates, implements, and directs ongoing administrative aspects of all service lines, patient throughput, and standards of clinical practice, quality, education, and clinical operation.

The Sr. Director recommends to the Vice President of Patient Care Services areas requiring evaluation and change, and implements nursing and other patient care programs.

In the absence of the Vice President of Network Perioperative Services, the Sr. Director is responsible for all perioperative service lines at the WMC Main Campus.

Responsibilities:
  1. Supervises, coordinates, implements, and directs ongoing administrative aspects of assigned nursing and patient care areas.
  2. Participates in evaluating nursing and clinical practice through peer review.
  3. Assists in establishing institutional standards of practice in cooperation with professional standards.
  4. Establishes staff qualifications in conjunction with senior leadership.
  5. Coordinates implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
  6. Assists in developing education programs for staff.
  7. Provides staff evaluations and participates in labor-management conferences.
  8. Coordinates clinical programs with department heads.
  9. Recommends staffing patterns based on service line needs.
  10. Investigates data and recommends improvements in patient care services.
  11. Participates in quality improvement activities and hospital committees.
  12. Assists with departmental budgets.
  13. Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 6 years of professional nursing experience, including 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Valid license and current registration as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the NYS Department of Education.
