Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 18+ years of progressive operational leadership experience.
  • 10+ years leading Lean transformation initiatives in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Experience delivering structured leadership training for production teams and operations leaders.
  • Strong track record deploying world-class problem solving methodologies.
  • Experience implementing Lean systems across multiple business units or locations.
  • Experience leading large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to travel regularly to facilities and project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the enterprise Lean strategy aligned with growth and goals.
  • Develop and deploy Team Leader Development Training for frontline leadership.
  • Develop and rollout standard problem solving methods across the enterprise.

  • Serve as an internal Lean subject matter expert.
  • Drive Lean tools like Value Stream Mapping, 5S, TPM, PPC, and Daily Management Systems.

Job description

Senior Director of Lean Enterprise

The Senior Director of Lean Enterprise is responsible for helping to develop, lead, and sustain the company's Lean transformation across field construction operations, manufacturing facilities, and other operating sites. This key leadership role will drive operational excellence, productivity improvement, quality enhancement, schedule reliability, and cost reduction through the deployment of Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and a culture of problem-solving.

The position partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Executive Leadership to deploy a unified Lean operating system that improves performance from design and fabrication through installation and commissioning as well as in facility operations and maintenance. This role requires a highly visible leader who is comfortable working on active construction sites, in manufacturing and operating environments, and with executive leadership teams to achieve strategic business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and execute the enterprise Lean strategy aligned with company growth and operational goals.
  • Partner with Human Resources to develop and deploy Team Leader Development Training with a target of developing best frontline leadership in the industry. Lever this training as a vehicle to deepen operations leadership capability at all levels.
  • Assist in the development and rollout of standard problem solving methods to the enterprise.
  • Support deployment of lean principles into our construction job sites, collaborating with project executives, project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to improve project delivery (labor productivity, schedule adherence, and field execution consistency).
  • Support lean implementation efforts within manufacturing and modular assembly facilities and all other areas of M.C. Dean as required.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert for Lean principles.
  • Drive implementation of critical lean tools and methodologies including Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, Daily Management Systems, Pull Systems/Kanban, 5S and Workplace Organization, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Root Cause Problem Solving. Evaluate and implement applicable Lean Construction methodologies including Last Planner System, Pull Planning, Constraint Management, Visual Project Controls, Daily Huddles, Percent Plan Complete (PPC) Measurement, Continuous Improvement Cycles.
  • Coach leaders at all levels on Lean leadership behaviors and problem-solving techniques. Mentor and help develop lean practitioners.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience in successful development and delivery of structured leadership training for production Team Leaders and other operations leaders.
  • Strong track record in defining and deploying world-class problem solving methodologies across a global footprint.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean systems across multiple business units or locations.
  • Experience leading large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to travel regularly to manufacturing facilities and project sites.
Preferred
  • Master's degree (MBA, Engineering, Operations, or related discipline).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Lean Construction Institute (LCI) training or certification.
