Mod ModularMission Critical is the manufacturing campus for M.C. Dean's advanced modular datacenter products, located near Richmond, VA.

The Director - Lean Enterprise will lead Lean transformation across field construction, manufacturing facilities, and other sites. This role partners with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and executives to deploy a unified Lean operating system that improves performance from design to commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • 16+ years of progressive operational leadership experience.
  • 10+ years leading Lean transformation initiatives in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Proven success implementing Lean systems across multiple business units or locations.
  • Experience leading large-scale organizational change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to travel regularly to manufacturing facilities and project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and execute the enterprise Lean strategy aligned with company growth and operational goals.
  • Lead deployment of lean principles into construction sites and manufacturing facilities to improve productivity and schedule adherence.
  • Coordinate external consulting support for lean transformation at job sites.
  • Support lean implementation across manufacturing, modular assembly, and other areas of M.C. Dean.
  • Facilitate alignment between manufacturing and field operations to maximize prefabrication benefits.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert for Lean principles and tools.
  • Drive implementation of lean tools and methodologies including PPC, 5S, TPM, and daily management systems.

The Director - Lean Enterprise is responsible for helping to develop, lead, and sustain the company's Lean transformation across field construction operations, manufacturing facilities, and other operating sites. This key leadership role will drive operational excellence, productivity improvement, quality enhancement, schedule reliability, and cost reduction through the deployment of Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and a culture of problem‑solving.

The position partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Executive Leadership to deploy a unified Lean operating system that improves performance from design and fabrication through installation and commissioning as well as in facility operations and maintenance.

This role requires a highly visible leader who is comfortable working on active construction sites, in manufacturing and operating environments, and with executive leadership teams to achieve strategic business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and execute the enterprise Lean strategy aligned with company growth and operational goals.
  • Lead deployment of lean principles into our construction job sites, collaborating with project executives, project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to improve project delivery (labor productivity, schedule adherence, and field execution consistency).
  • Coordinate external consulting support in our job sites as needed in support of lean transformation.
  • Support lean implementation efforts within manufacturing and modular assembly facilities and all other areas of M.C. Dean as required.
  • Facilitate alignment between manufacturing and field operations to maximize prefabrication and modularization benefits.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert for Lean principles.
  • Drive implementation of critical lean tools and methodologies including Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, Daily Management Systems, Pull Systems/Kanban, 5S and Workplace Organization, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Root Cause Problem Solving. Evaluate and implement applicable Lean Construction methodologies including Last Planner System, Pull Planning, Constraint Management, Visual Project Controls, Daily Huddles, Percent Plan Complete (PPC) Measurement, Continuous Improvement Cycles.
  • Coach leaders at all levels on Lean leadership behaviors and problem‑solving techniques. Mentor and help develop lean practitioners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field.

Preferred
  • Master's degree (MBA, Engineering, Operations, or related discipline).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Lean Construction Institute (LCI) training or certification.
