Job Description

The Director of Estimating must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual who possesses the skills required to successfully develop and execute estimating tasks and deliverables, be a collaborative team player, and demonstrate strong leadership to drive collaboration within CRB. She/he creates brand differentiation and pre-eminence for CRB in the market by working with teams to drive and support project estimating expertise, excellence, and standardization.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement innovative/disruptive project estimating standards, processes, and solutions across CRB.
2. Drive a culture of continuous estimating learning and improvement that maximizes CRB’s risk/reward value proposition.
3. Create and own the strategy and priorities of CRB estimating expertise and specialty differentiation, and promote this throughout CRB’s business.
4. Develop and manage CRB’s commercial project estimating standards and processes.
5. Drive design and construction estimating and cost awareness into CRB’s culture.
6. Provide project estimating leadership across CRB.
7. Ensure project estimating training is embedded into CRB’s career development and staff growth.
8. Support recruiting and staffing the Corporate Estimating Team.
9. Participate in estimating staff performance reviews.
10. Develop an annual business plan for Estimating.
11. Approve estimating department costs (software, expenses, etc.).
12. Participate actively on the Risk Committee for proposals.
13. Function as a Lead Estimator when workload requires.
14. Collaborate with Directors of Cost Control, Planning/Scheduling, and Project Management to coordinate LEAN integrated design and construction processes.

Qualifications

• College Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction Industry.
• Proven success in managing architecture, engineering, and construction processes.
• Experience with Integrated Project Delivery is a plus.
• Experience in Life Science Design and Construction.
• Previous project management and/or pre-construction experience.
• Strong understanding of project (and estimate) lifecycles.
• Knowledge of project logistics and schedules.
• Ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple activities effectively.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and make decisions.
• Conceptual and detailed estimating skills.
• Understanding of standard design and construction details and drawings.
• Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of estimating practices and software such as Timberline (Sage Estimating) and OnScreen Takeoff.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Life Science, Industrial, and Commercial Projects.
