Job description

The Company Dexcom Corporation (NASDAQ DXCM) is a pioneer and global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Dexcom began as a small company with a big dream: To forever change how diabetes is managed. To unlock information and insights that drive better health outcomes. Here we are 25 years later, having pioneered an industry. And we're just getting started. We are broadening our vision beyond diabetes to empower people to take control of health. That means personalized, actionable insights aimed at solving important health challenges. To continue what we've started: Improving human health. We are driven by thousands of ambitious, passionate people worldwide who are willing to fight like warriors to earn the trust of our customers by listening, serving with integrity, thinking big, and being dependable. We've already changed millions of lives and we're ready to change millions more. Our future ambition is to become a leading consumer health technology company while continuing to develop solutions for serious health conditions. We'll get there by constantly reinventing unique biosensing-technology experiences. Though we've come a long way from our small company days, our dreams are bigger than ever. The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us.

At Dexcom, we are reimagining how innovation happens across engineering, science, and product development through the power of Artificial Intelligence. The AI Engineering, Discovery & Co-Design team is responsible for building the platforms, tools, and capabilities that accelerate knowledge discovery, engineering excellence, scientific investigation, and cross-functional collaboration throughout our R&D organization.

As the Sr. Director, AI Engineering, Discovery & Co-Design, you will define and execute the vision for AI-enabled innovation across engineering and scientific disciplines. You will build and scale a world-class team focused on creating reusable AI capabilities that help engineers and scientists solve complex problems faster, make better decisions, and unlock new opportunities for innovation. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of how Dexcom discovers, designs, and develops life-changing technologies.

Where you come in

You define and execute the strategy, roadmap, and vision for AI Engineering, Discovery & Co-Design capabilities across Dexcom's R&D organization. You lead the development of AI-powered platforms, engineering workflows, knowledge systems, and scientific reasoning capabilities that accelerate innovation and engineering effectiveness. You establish scalable co-design environments that enable collaboration across sensor, hardware, firmware, algorithm, antenna, mechanical, and systems engineering teams. You partner with Engineering, Research, Systems Engineering, Product Development, Data & Analytics, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, IT, and Executive Leadership teams to identify and deliver high-impact AI solutions. You evaluate emerging technologies and drive build-versus-buy-versus-partner decisions that maximize business value and competitive advantage. You build, lead, and develop a high-performing organization of AI engineers, research engineers, architects, scientists, and technical leaders. You establish strategic relationships with universities, research institutions, and technology communities to strengthen innovation pipelines and attract exceptional talent. You foster a culture of experimentation, technical excellence, continuous learning, and responsible innovation while delivering measurable business outcomes.

What makes you successful

You bring deep expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, scientific computing, engineering platforms, or related technology domains. You have a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing technical organizations and developing future leaders. You demonstrate success translating emerging technologies into practical, enterprise-scale capabilities that generate measurable business impact. You have strong experience evaluating technology investments and making strategic decisions related to internal development, commercial solutions, and external partnerships. You excel at influencing executive stakeholders and driving organizational transformation through vision, data, and execution excellence. You possess outstanding communication and collaboration skills and can effectively convey complex technical concepts to technical, scientific, business, and executive audiences. You have experience recruiting and retaining exceptional talent from industry, startups, research institutions, and academic environments. You have experience building AI-enabled environments that support engineering innovation, scientific discovery, simulation, optimization, knowledge management, or collaborative design workflows. You maintain credibility as a hands-on technology leader with a passion for innovation and continuous advancement of AI capabilities. Your experience establishing external partnerships, participating in industry communities, and contributing to thought leadership is highly valued.
