Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior DevSecOps CI/CD Engineer to lead secure automation and deployment pipelines for a federal modernization program in Huntsville, AL. This onsite role requires a Top Secret clearance and 8+ years in DevSecOps, with strong Terraform, CloudFormation, and container orchestration experience.

You will work closely with engineers across cloud, security, and product teams to ensure secure, compliant, and reliable software delivery in AWS and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and 8+ years in DevSecOps, CI/CD, or secure automation roles.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with IaC tools including Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud services and secure software development practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines with automated builds, tests, security scanning, and deployments.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior DevSecOps CI/CD Engineer to support secure automation, deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cloud-based delivery for a major federal modernization program in Huntsville, AL. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting the rapid, reliable, and secure deployment of mission-critical applications and services across AWS and on-premises environments.

As a Senior DevSecOps CI/CD Engineer, you will play a critical role in integrating modern DevSecOps practices across the software development lifecycle, ensuring security, automation, compliance, and operational excellence in support of a high-profile federal mission.

Key Responsibilities

DevSecOps Pipeline Engineering

• Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting automated builds, testing, security scanning, and deployments.
• Implement secure DevOps practices, including dependency management, artifact control, and automated vulnerability scanning.
• Maintain version control standards, branching strategies, and build automation across multiple repositories.

Cloud & Infrastructure Automation

• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
• Support environment provisioning, configuration management, and deployment orchestration.
• Integrate logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities across cloud and hybrid environments.

Security Integration & Compliance

• Embed security gates, code quality checks, and compliance validations into CI/CD workflows.
• Ensure adherence to federal security requirements supporting classified environments.
• Support automated compliance reporting, artifact tracking, and audit readiness activities.

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Partner with Full Stack Engineers, Cloud Engineers, QA Automation Engineers, Data Engineers, and Product Leads.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and integration efforts.
• Troubleshoot deployment issues, automation failures, and environment instability.

Operational Support & Optimization

• Monitor pipeline performance and reliability, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and automation.
• Document pipeline architectures, IaC templates, deployment procedures, and operational processes.
• Support release readiness activities and deployment events for major software releases.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in DevSecOps, CI/CD engineering, or secure automation roles
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and CloudFormation
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud services and secure software development practices
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community, or other national security programs
• Familiarity with microservices architectures, serverless technologies, and distributed systems
• Experience implementing automated security scanning tools such as SonarQube, Snyk, Anchore, Twistlock, or Nessus
• Scripting experience with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
• Relevant cloud, security, or DevSecOps certifications preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
