Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our Shockwave Medical team located in Santa Clara, CA. Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Ready to join a team that’s pioneering the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.
In this position, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust automation tools and processes that enable rapid, reliable, and scalable software development and deployment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies, as well as the ability to integrate these elements seamlessly within our R&D ecosystem. Experience working with IoT and embedded systems is preferred.
Essential Job Functions
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code using best practices in software development (e.g., Agile methodologies) and IT infrastructure management.
- Automate the software delivery pipeline through configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Ansible or Salt, containerization technologies like Podman, and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Implement logging solutions to ensure high availability of applications and services.
- Implement Code and vulnerability scanning and automated testing with tools like VectorCast, Coverity, Linters, Blackduck etc.
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and optimizations of the technology stack, including troubleshooting and resolving issues related to performance, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with development teams to implement and manage CI/CD pipelines that enable continuous integration and delivery.
- Has strong knowledge to design complex pipelines in Jenkins with code scanning, security standards, software bill of materials etc.
- Stay current with emerging trends in DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Lead projects and initiatives to improve our technology stack, including migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with at least 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience on CI/CD with multiple integrations.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Terraform, Bash, etc., and configuration management tools like Ansible or Salt.
- Hands‑on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Podman or Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Nexus, JFrog, Azure Container Registry etc.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar technologies.
- Preferably has worked on IoT and embedded systems.
- Strong experience on Code Scanning and secure coding standards like MISRA – Implemented within Jenkins.
- Experience with test automation and code review tools like VectorCast, Coverity, Linters etc.
- Familiarity with tools like Blackduck, Snyk, SonarQube etc. to generate reports.
- Experience creating Software Bill of Materials to expose vulnerabilities.
- Hardware in the loop and security testing [Nice to have].
- Has a security first mindset, nice to have experience working in regulated environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the capacity for continuous learning and adaptation.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience mentoring team members is preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $91,000.00 - $147,200.00.
