Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Sr Development Quality Engineer to design, develop, and audit products and systems within an integrated engineering team. You will mentor engineers and participate in all product life cycle phases, ensuring compliance with DO-178/DO-254, AS9100, AS9115, ARP-4754A.

The role requires 6+ years of engineering development or quality assurance experience, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate across departments.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in an engineering development or quality assurance/auditing role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • U.S. Person: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
  • Strong knowledge/familiarity with standards such as DO-178, DO-254, AS9100, AS9115, and ARP-4754A is a plus.
  • Experience as an auditor is a plus.
  • Ability to evaluate and follow a process.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring engineering development activities on projects.
  • Self-starter/independent worker that demonstrates initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage, communicate and coordinate work with groups outside the department.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to convey complex messages clearly to appropriate audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct design/development audits on work performed at Honeywell Aerospace sites and internal/external supplier sites.
  • Participate in development activities throughout the product’s life cycle from concept through production.
  • Assess engineering activities, reporting, and tracking of non-conformances related to software, hardware, and system standards.
  • Provide assurance that systems, software, and hardware engineering activities comply with defined procedures.
  • Interface with and support product and site level assessments by external customers.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to engineering teams and project management.
  • Ensure supplier quality organizations align with Honeywell and customer requirements.
  • Interface with regulatory personnel and external customers as necessary.
  • Travel up to 5% within the United States. Hybrid work schedule.
  • Report to Sr Certification Eng Manager.

About the Role

Imagine, design, and develop products and systems as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. The Sr Development Quality Engineer will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct design/development audits on work performed at Honeywell Aerospace sites and internal/external supplier sites.
  • Participate in specific development activities throughout the product’s life cycle from concept through production to ensure process compliance and efficiency.
  • Assess engineering activities, reporting, and tracking of non-conformances as they pertain to software, hardware, and system standards (customer, military, regulatory, AS9100/AS9115, DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754A).
  • Provide assurance that systems, software, and hardware engineering activities comply with defined procedures.
  • Interface with and support product and site level assessments by external customers.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to engineering teams and project management regarding overall design and development compliance.
  • Ensure supplier quality organizations are aligned with Honeywell and customer requirements and expectations.
  • Interface with regulatory personnel and external customers as necessary.
  • Travel up to 5% within the United States. Hybrid work schedule.
  • Report to Sr Certification Eng Manager.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in an engineering development or quality assurance/auditing role (e.g., systems, software, hardware, airborne electronic hardware, supplier development, reliability, supply chain quality).
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • U.S. Person: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
  • Strong knowledge/familiarity with standards such as DO-178, DO-254, AS9100, AS9115, and ARP-4754A is a plus.
