Description

The Senior Development Project Manager role focuses on early-stage development, due diligence, engineering, interconnection, and permitting of distributed energy solar + energy storage projects ranging from 2MW to 50MW. This includes self-developed greenfield projects or acquisition projects involving LOI and MIPAs. The role involves working with the Sr. Director of Project Delivery, Engineering & Interconnection Team, and the Project Development team to develop commercially viable projects through managing all pre-NTP activities. Post-NTP, projects are transitioned to the Project Execution team.

The Senior Project Manager manages all aspects of early project stages, coordinating with stakeholders such as consultants, lawyers, engineers, permitting agencies, utilities, developers, analysts, financiers, and construction personnel. The role requires deep knowledge of commercial solar and storage projects, strong problem-solving, team management skills, and the ability to work independently to push projects to readiness for execution. The position reports to the Sr. Director/Head of DE-Project Engineering & Delivery or another senior leader.

Ideal candidates will reside in Texas or surrounding states. The role is primarily remote but requires flexibility for travel, estimated at 10% of the year or as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage due diligence, engineering, estimates, permitting, and procurement of solar + energy storage projects.
• Generate reports on project status and progress for management.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and consultants on early designs and due diligence.
• Work with EPCs for cost estimates supporting sales and development pre-NTP.
• Develop project work plans and schedules.
• Prequalify EPC partners and manage bid processes.
• Write and negotiate contracts using Qcells templates.
• Manage engineers and contractors to meet project goals.
• Create detailed project schedules and budgets.
• Utilize project management software like Procore.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project scope and timelines are achievable.
• Promote safety culture at project sites.
• Align project activities with company objectives and workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Architecture, or related field.
• At least 7 years of project management experience in ground-mount commercial solar development.
• Minimum 2 years managing projects involving commercial BESS, attached to PV or standalone.
• Deep knowledge of ground-mount (fixed and single-axis) projects in the Northeastern US; experience with roof and carport PV projects is a plus.
• Understanding of power systems, electrical grids, and smart grid concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the energy industry, community solar, and energy storage sectors.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize demands.
• Experience with project management software platforms.
