Job description

RDQ427R269

Are you a passionate Developer Advocate at heart? Someone who loves bringing the community together, hosting and speaking at events, and diving deep into application development and developer experience?

As a Databricks Developer Advocate on the Neon DevRel team, you’ll serve as a key link between our engineering teams and the growing community of application and agent developers building on Postgres and Neon. You’ll use your technical expertise to help maintain and extend our SDKs, educate and inspire our users, and shape the future of Agent and Developer Experience (AX & DX) for Neon.

Developer experience will be at the core of your role. You’ll help maintain our TypeScript SDK and CLI, Neon’s MCP server, and other developer-facing tools — with a strong focus on staying ahead of the AI curve. You’ll share your expertise in DevTools and AX through talks, meetups, blog posts, videos, and community engagement. Your work will empower both agents and developers to build more effectively with Neon, while showcasing our commitment to world‑class DX and AX.

You’ll collaborate closely with the neon.com community, as well as product and engineering teams, ensuring developer feedback directly informs product direction. You’ll also partner with fellow advocates, program managers, and the broader Databricks DevRel organization to deliver a cohesive and impactful agent experience strategy.

The ideal candidate embodies the values of our DevRel team: deep passion for application development, strong empathy for developer needs, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.

In this role, you’ll educate and grow the Neon community through high‑quality technical content and hands‑on experiences — while continuously feeding insights back into the product to elevate the developer experience even further.

Neon is Databricks’ product‑led growth Serverless Postgres and BaaS platform, built with the vision of helping developers ship faster. Delivering on this mission depends on building trust and recognition within a growing community of application developers, while also serving the broader Databricks user base.

The neon.com DevRel team at Databricks is focused on building and strengthening relationships with agent and application developers, while also expanding its reach into areas like code generation and AI‑driven development. The impact you will have
  • Enhance and develop customer‑facing SDKs & libraries to empower builders to succeed with Neon
  • Create developer‑focused content that helps Neon users discover new features, solve real problems, and grow their skills on the platform.
  • Drive adoption and excitement not just by speaking at events, but by engaging with the community, building connections, and strengthening a shared sense of belonging.
  • Produce educational and community‑focused assets: videos, tutorials, sample projects, blog posts, and resources driven by community feedback and questions.
  • Expand and engage the Neon community through conference presence and online spaces (e.g., Discord).
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to surface insights from the community and ensure developer needs influence roadmap decisions.
  • Create and manage programs that deepen engagement, such as creator and ambassador initiatives, open source collaborations, and other developer‑focused movements.
  • Actively gather, analyze, and amplify community feedback to continuously improve Neon’s product experience and developer journey.
What we look for
  • 5+ years of experience as a Developer Advocate, software engineer, solutions architect, or a related role.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of outcomes and deliver with minimal supervision.
  • Professional experience building and shipping software or data solutions.
  • Demonstrated skill in creating impactful technical content tailored to developers.
  • Deep empathy for developer needs, with the ability to provide clear answers in community spaces.
  • Mastery in at least one core advocacy skill (e.g., public speaking, technical writing, live demos, curriculum development).
  • Applied expertise in specific product components, with the ability to translate them into practical guidance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.
  • Track record of active involvement in developer communities (meetups, forums, open source, user groups) and success collaborating across functions to achieve shared goals.
