Job summary

Superior Completions, a Superior Energy Services Company, is seeking a Sr. Designer for our Houston, TX office. You will design downhole completion tools and lead prototype testing within our design and NPD group.

Responsibilities include creating layouts, participating in design reviews, and drafting new product documentation while ensuring manufacturability and compliance with API/ISO specs. Strong hands-on engineering skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience designing downhole oil and gas tools.
  • Experience in new product development.
  • Experience working with API/ISO specifications (API 11D1, API 19V, API 19ICV, API 19AC, etc.).
  • 3D modeling skills required; working knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor preferred.
  • Hands-on in a test lab or manufacturing facility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, efficiency, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure manufacturing drawings are consistent with working layouts.

Superior Completions is excited to announce that we are currently seeking a Sr. Designer for our office in Houston, TX.

We’re looking for a Sr. Designer who will work within the Research, Design, New Product Development, and Sustaining Engineering Group and support new product development of our downhole completion tool product lines (including packers, sand control tools, fluid loss valves, interval control valves (ICVs), barrier valves, locks, nipples, and/or safety valves). In their role, they will be responsible for the design and qualification testing of new downhole completion tool products for oil and gas wells to meet our customers’ requirements and maintain existing designs.

The successful candidate will be highly self‑motivated, able to work in a quick‑paced environment, and will be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering documents for prototyping and production; providing support to the Design Engineering Group during prototype testing of equipment; providing technical support for manufacturing and operations; and troubleshooting failed equipment or processes. The ideal candidate will have design experience developing downhole completion tools to meet industry standards such as API 11D1, API 19V, API 19ICV, API 19AC, etc.
