Job summary

Percent in New York is seeking an experienced Sr. Designer to develop innovative luxury eyewear collections for leading brands. You will translate brand direction into compelling concepts, sketches, and renderings, collaborating across North America and our Italian headquarters.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial design and luxury accessories, with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling, and 3D rendering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from an accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of professional design experience, preferably within a specialty retail, distribution, or sales environment.
• Strong understanding of the product development and production process.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare innovative sketches and concepts for new eyewear collections based on brand and licensor specifications.
• Collaborate with product development and line-planning teams in North America and Italy to research and develop innovative construction details, including hardware, materials, production techniques, and design solutions.
• Create fully developed sketchbooks, concept presentations, and high-quality renderings using Adobe Illustrator.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, including section drawings, exploded views, annotations, and specifications required for prototyping.
• Support prototype reviews, CAD assessments, revisions, and follow-up activities to ensure accurate translation of design concepts into finished products.
• Interpret current and emerging trends across the North American eyewear and fashion industries and incorporate relevant trends into product concepts.
• Provide creative direction for product concepts that align with collection strategies, brand identity, and market trends.
• Conduct domestic and competitive market research to identify emerging product opportunities, consumer preferences, and industry trends.
• Lead exploratory development of new materials, construction methods, and design techniques in collaboration with North American development and line-planning teams.
• Maintain close communication with licensors and internal stakeholders throughout the design and product development lifecycle.
• Participate in relevant industry conferences, trade shows, and other market events.
• Collaborate effectively with designers and cross-functional teams in New York and the company's Italian headquarters.

Required Qualifications

• Professional experience in luxury accessories, such as:
• Eyewear - preferred
• Jewelry and hardware
• Fashion accessories
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated project management and organizational abilities.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software, such as Rhinoceros (Rhino) or a comparable platform.
• Proficiency in 3D rendering software, such as KeyShot or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a sales, distribution, or commercial product environment.
• Exposure to Italian culture, design, or business practices.
• Italian language proficiency is a plus.
• Experience specifically designing eyewear or other luxury fashion accessories.
• Strong understanding of luxury brand positioning, aesthetics, and customer expectations.
