Job summary

The Intersect Group is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Greer, SC to own and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments. You will drive performance tuning, ensure high availability, and lead efforts to automate operational tasks while mentoring junior staff.

You’ll partner with business and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable database solutions, support ETL and reporting, and contribute to data reliability and security in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on database administration and development in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with performance tuning, indexing, wait analysis, and query optimization.
• Experience implementing HA/DR solutions and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with SSIS/SSRS and automation via scripting languages.
• Ability to mentor teammates and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, including security, backup, and upgrades.
• Lead high availability / disaster recovery strategies (Always On, log shipping, streaming replication).
• Tune performance with execution plans, statistics, and DMVs; optimize queries and indexes.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative technology team where database expertise directly impacts application performance and business growth. **Role Summary** The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to own the administration, performance, availability, and ongoing improvement of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments. This position combines traditional database administration with database development, performance engineering, automation, and technical leadership. You will manage production database environments, lead complex performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts, and support high availability and disaster recovery strategies. The role will also design and optimize database code, support ETL and reporting solutions, automate operational processes, and partner with business and technology teams on evolving application requirements.
