We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

    About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our expanding Data Science team. In these roles, you'll lead cutting-edge AI/ML research initiatives at the intersection of cybersecurity and advanced machine learning, with a focus on mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, and innovations that extend beyond current generative AI capabilities.

As part of our team, you'll enjoy unique advantages that blend research depth with industry impact. You'll have access to vast, proprietary datasets unavailable elsewhere, significant GPU computing infrastructure capable of supporting our in-house LLM training initiatives, and the opportunity to see your research directly impact real-world cybersecurity challenges. You'll be joining a team at the forefront of state-of-the-art generative AI solutions, while also helping to define what comes next in AI innovation. We foster an environment that encourages publication in top-tier journals and conferences, while also providing the satisfaction of seeing your innovations deployed at scale.

Our diverse team includes professionals from varied backgrounds - from academia to professional services - united by a passion for advancing AI in cybersecurity. Whether your experience comes from research institutions, consulting, or industry roles, we value your unique perspective. You'll work alongside fellow PhDs and experienced practitioners in a culture that values intellectual curiosity and breakthrough thinking. We also offer a robust patent incentivization program that rewards innovative thinking and intellectual property development. This inclusive environment makes CrowdStrike an ideal place for talented individuals from diverse professional backgrounds who share an interest in fundamental AI research and its practical applications.

    What You'll Do:

    • Lead research initiatives in mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, and representation learning to advance fundamental AI capabilities for cybersecurity applications

    • Develop novel machine learning architectures that move beyond current generative AI paradigms, creating more robust, transparent, and efficient models for complex multimodal cybersecurity data

    • Analyze diverse, high-dimensional datasets to discover latent patterns and extract meaningful insights from massive unlabeled data

    • Develop rigorous experimental frameworks and evaluation methodologies to validate theoretical advances across dimensions of performance, interpretability, robustness, and generalization in real-world cybersecurity contexts

    • Collaborate with Engineering teams to translate research breakthroughs into practical, deployable solutions

    • Publish findings in top-tier academic journals and present at leading conferences to advance the field

    • Create and file patents for novel methodologies and technologies developed during your research

    • Engage with the broader research community to exchange ideas and stay current with cutting-edge developments

    • Mentor junior researchers and foster a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation

    What You'll Need:

    • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent research experience, with 5+ years post-graduation experience in advanced machine learning research

    • Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning fundamentals and statistical methods

    • Proficiency with Python, Deep Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and distributed computing environments

    • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

    • Proven ability to conduct independent research while collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams

    Bonus Points:

    • Demonstrated expertise in one or more specialized areas: mechanistic interpretability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, or emerging AI paradigms

    • Research leadership and scientific impact through publications in high-impact journals, patents, or deployed innovations

    • Experience applying advanced ML techniques to cybersecurity challenges

    • Experience designing and implementing novel machine learning architectures and algorithms

    • Background in theoretical foundations such as information theory, causal inference, or theoretical computer science

    • Expertise in robust AI approaches including adversarial machine learning, multi-agent systems, or emergent behaviors

    • Experience with large-scale distributed training and optimization techniques

    • Knowledge of privacy-preserving machine learning and differential privacy methods

    • Familiarity with next-generation computing paradigms such as neuromorphic computing, brain-inspired architectures, or quantum machine learning

    • Specialized knowledge in computational linguistics or graph neural networks for complex relational data

    • Contributions to open-source machine learning projects or frameworks

Please note: This role focuses on fundamental research that pushes beyond current AI paradigms to develop the next generation of explainable, self-supervised learning systems for cybersecurity applications. Level of hire will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
