How You can Make an Impact

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable talent to join our growing data organization as a Senior Data Scientist. The Ontada team draws upon deep expertise in data science, data analytics, and real-world clinical data to deliver innovative data-driven strategies and insights for clients. The Senior Data Scientist will have the opportunity to work on complex business problems, leveraging our in-house data sources within a collaborative environment. This role will be responsible to support healthcare data initiatives by providing accurate and timely data preparation, analysis and insights, quality assurance, and ongoing system and process maintenance. The ideal candidate is not only an expert in data science methodologies but also understand healthcare systems and technology with extensive experience in clinical data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy: implement comprehensive data science strategies that align with organizational goals and improve healthcare delivery.
  • Advanced Analytics: Development and execution of data profiling, data preparation, data mining and data validation techniques to analyze complex healthcare data.
  • Project Management: manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality of analytical solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinicians, IT professionals, and business stakeholders, to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science and healthcare technology and apply them to drive innovation within the organization.
  • Reporting and Communication: Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of data analysis and models through rigorous testing and validation processes.

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree a plus. Clinical degrees (Nursing, Physicians Assistant, Pharmacy) will be considered.

Critical Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in data science, with a significant portion in the healthcare sector and specifically in clinical data management
  • Experience in mining claims, genomics and EMR data; oncology experience is required; Clinical trial and unstructured data is a plus
  • Oncology experience required
  • Experience in data analysis, data mapping/cleansing, data manipulation, and data interpretation visualization and applying quantitative methods to real-world business problems in the life sciences industry
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, terminology, and regulatory requirements.

Additional Skills

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical leaders and software engineering teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Passion for using data, analytics and visualization to solve business challenges our clients face
  • In-depth knowledge of software, documentation, utilities & program scripts
  • Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter, able to work with limited supervision
  • Demonstrates curiosity and a creative approach to problem solving
  • Effectively work independently and within a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A desire to continuously learn and develop professionally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
