Job summary

Pinnaql, Inc. invites a Sr Data Scientist to drive analytics from discovery through delivery in a regulated environment. You will build models, leverage Python, SQL, and ML libraries, and partner with the PR Operations Organization to ensure compliant, secure data practices.

The role requires advanced degrees or equivalent experience, strong programming and data-management skills, and the ability to translate business questions into scalable solutions. Onsite in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Masters plus 2 years in data science or related field.
• Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Statistics, or OR
• Experience leading projects end to end.
• Experience with SQL databases including Graph databases.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SAS with ML libraries.
• Ability to write reusable code and work in Linux environments.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing tools.

Job description

The Sr Data Scientist at Pinnaql will drive advanced analytics work from discovery through delivery, partnering across the PR Operations Organization to build analytical models and actionable insights. The role combines machine learning, AI, and Python-based development while aligning work to compliance, security, and privacy expectations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, use, and develop data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities across the organization
• Drive end-to-end projects and collaborate on cross-functional teams to systematically derive insights that translate into substantial business value
• Take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
• Identify business needs, perform SWOT analysis, propose analytical approaches, obtain approvals, and execute work end to end
• Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof of concepts using Python
• Use SQL and other database query languages
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define appropriate methodology for specific business questions
• Present analysis ideas, progress, and results to business partners in a clear and impactful manner
• Create supporting narratives in PowerPoint and be well-versed in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Ensure analytical work meets regulatory, security, and privacy requirements related to data assets

Required Qualifications

• Education and experience: Doctorate OR Masters plus 2 years of data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science, or related field experience; OR Bachelors plus 4 years of the same related experience
• Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Statistics, or Operations Research
• Experience leading and executing projects end to end
• Experience with databases including relational, SQL, and Graph
• Programming experience with Python, R, or SAS, including machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, MLib, Keras, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
• Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code in Python, R, or Scala and navigate Linux environments
• Strong logical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with technical attention to detail
• Strong organization and planning skills, with capability to manage many large and complex datasets
• Ability to collaborate with and influence business partners and other IS resources to deliver analytic projects end to end
• Excellent communication skills to convey analysis clearly, precisely, and in an actionable manner
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing tools such as Spark and Hive
• Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and staying current with advanced analytics
• Biotech / Pharma experience
