Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to own and evolve a shared data platform powering reliable reporting, scalable ingestion, and efficient data operations across the organization.

You will partner with engineers and analysts to improve platform performance, incident response, and build reusable tooling for delivery at scale; remote US-based. This hands-on role covers data infrastructure, orchestration, cloud services, and production support.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience building and operating production data platforms.
  • Hands-on Snowflake administration including RBAC, cost management, and performance tuning.
  • Strong Python and SQL programming with shared libraries for engineers.
  • Experience with Prefect and Airflow, especially on Kubernetes.
  • Terraform for AWS (EKS, S3) infrastructure as code.
  • dbt at scale with project structuring and macros.
  • CI/CD ownership in data systems using GitHub Actions.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Media space.


This role will help own and evolve a shared data platform that supports reliable reporting, scalable ingestion, and efficient data operations across the organization.


The ideal candidate will partner closely with engineers and analysts to improve platform performance, strengthen incident response, and build reusable tools that simplify delivery at scale.


This is a highly technical, hands-on role with broad impact across data infrastructure, orchestration, cloud services, and production support.


Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available


Compensation: $144,552 – $192,736 annually


Responsibilities


  • Own and manage data pipelines and models while ensuring platform reliability end to end.

  • Serve as the escalation point for incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

  • Define service levels for critical pipelines and maintain transparency in reporting against them.

  • Provide support and design guidance across the platform to engineers and analysts.

  • Design and build shared components for the unified platform, streamlining cross-business unit functionality.

  • Oversee Snowflake account consolidation, including merging and replication processes.

  • Build reusable ingestion tools and libraries to improve efficiency and reduce redundancy.


Qualifications


  • 7+ years of experience building and operating production data platforms, with emphasis on shared platform and infrastructure work.

  • Hands-on expertise with Snowflake at an administrative level, including RBAC design, cost management, and performance tuning.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience developing shared libraries for engineers.

  • Familiarity with modern orchestration tools such as Prefect and Airflow, particularly on Kubernetes.

  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code using Terraform, including AWS services such as EKS and S3.

  • Experience with dbt at scale, including project structuring and macro usage.

  • CI/CD ownership experience in data systems using GitHub Actions and automated quality gates.
